    Default UDK Tools script for Maya -- jbUDK Tools

    Hi all. I'd like to share a free Maya script I've had in development for a while that aids in setting up and maintaining the Maya grid for the creation of UDK assets along with other tools with the level designer in mind.

    Some features (v1.1):

    * Ability to instantly switch between a UDK friendly grid and camera setup and the Maya default setup
    * Work with custom grid subdivisions on the fly
    * Modular design friendly mesh positioning options
    * Transform tools, including true mesh stacking
    * Create useful references, including custom references
    * An Unreal Unit/Standard Unit real-time calculator
    * FBX batch exporter

    v1.12:
    * FEATURE: new option in the Settings dropdown to keep your custom grid color scheme should you have one.

    v1.20
    * Update: UI now works with Maya 2013.

    Latest version (v.1.20) can be downloaded jbUDK Tools Download
    Help file can be viewed here

    Suggestions for features/improvement welcome.

    I use Maya 2009 Unlimited 64bit on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit Installation, I'm willing to give this too a good try for you. Looks like it could really be helpful.

    UPDATE:

    No this does not work with Maya 2009, At all. Oh well. Looks good so far.

    Yeah, sorry about that. It would work in Maya 2008/2009 but I used the new fileDialog browser functions for the export/batch export features. I could build one that works in older versions of Maya but don't have time ATM.

    Easier to make a shelf 'button' which will execute those lines of code when pressed. Copy or type the import text into the python script editor window, select it and go to File -> Save script to shelf. Give it a name, if desired, and you're good to go.

    Thumbs up Kewl!

    Hey, this is pretty awesome! I just downloaded it and have been playing with it in Maya 2011 and it's pretty kewl! Haven't found any bugs with it but I will be putting it to extensive use so if I find something I'll let you know.

    BTW... An easier way to make a shelf button is to copy the script into the script editor, select it then Middle Mouse Button+ClickDrag it onto the shelf.

    I also made a custom shelf icon for it. Right Click and choose Save Image As. Put it anywhere you like and then in the Shelf Editor you can attach the icon to the shelf button.
