Thoughts on the Community of Gears of War.

When I first got Gears of war the original back in '07, I really enjoyed the multiplayer. The people where another thing, most where immature, and trash talking thugs. Gears of war 2 was an improvement(player wise) But there were still a lot of trash talkers. Gears of war 3 is better, but at the cost that no one talks hardly ever. We all know randoms don't ever talk, and I can't complain because I hardly do also, and when I do, I'm in a party with friends. I just want to know peoples thoughts on the community. And how you think it could be improved.



*Side Note* This is a mature game, rated M for 17+ I would like to say F*** and S*** without it being censored. Again, another through for the forum. Or at least have a option to censor bad language.

The forums are not 17 +. It's about presentation. People know curse words are censored which is why you don't see a lot if it here.

Let not turn the forums into the human cesspool that Xbox live can be.

Save the potty mouth for church or your grandma's house. There's no need for it on the forums.

No-one really speaks on Gears anymore due to the horrendous amount of abuse people get when they do. I have my mic in, but I'll only talk when people are being at least civil to each other. I don't mind the odd bit of trash talking so long as it's in good fun.

Also, the forum, as stated above, is not rated M. Therefore, cursing has to be censored. Besides, using curse words in your posts just belittles your point.

The only darkside of the Gears community is the whiny self-entitled gnasher fanboys who are constantly mad because they can't play Gears 3 like they played Gears 1.

Trash talkers will be in every game you go, there's also a 'Mute' button. But I believe there should be some matchmaking options like the ones in Reach.

I play on the AU server and get alot of korean/japan dudes and it does my heart good to beat them but when they message me a voice/text message saying some weird japanese **** man that pisses me off

Yeah, people like to act tough online. And as everyone already knows, the ones who act tough online aren't tough or are extremely insecure.

As for posting curse words on the forums, they add nothing to any argument you may have. I see no need for them to be uncensored even if this was a M rated forum. Generally speaking, people can with relative accuracy understand which curse word you use by the context of the statement anyway.

Its the opposite for me, I thought he gow 1 community was much better.I enjoyed most of the teams I played with opposed to the dbags nonlinear and in these forums.

I'd say the community is worse than Call of Duty with it's whining, something is always wrong and nothing is ever right or fair.

Seconded. Really, who wants to put their mic in when you have these people around? Try to say anything against them for even a split second and you'll get abused like no other. Only the COD community is worse.

But yes, aside from this subset of the Gears community, the fans are very passionate and tend to be more skilled and mature. That's what counts.

It's not the issue of rather I want to curse, or not curse. It's having the choice too, or at least be able to lift the censor. I'm just saying that censorship on a forum is rather unconfentional on a M rated game when their charactors in the game clearly aren't "Saveing the pott mouth for church or your grandma's house"

Not exactly, it can be used to make a point seem greater. But still, that wasn't the main point of the post, it was just a side note. And even if the forum isn't rated M, i think the option to censor it should be added. Also its a forum for an M rated game.

I always thought the community was utterly pathetic. No other multiplayer has as many quitters as gears does. And the ones that do stay have to talk trash and/or make up excuses as to why they lost 50% of the time.
