How to back up save points using Mac or PC

Another way
(for Mac users only)

1. Find your local iCloud folder on Mac ("your HDD">users>"user">libraries>Mobile documents). Use "goto" in Finder, cause it may be hidden. Make a shortcut for it in the left pane of the Finder for future (drug&drop). It'll be you "Dropbox from Apple".

2. Find there chair folder and backup it somewhere regularly.

3. In case of emergency just overwrite all files in chair folder with your backup files and wait a bit (quit IB2 from taskbar beforehand for better results).

I've been using this method to backup my game for a few weeks without problem, then today I noticed that the 'Mobile documents' folder for IB2 is 2 days old, whereas before it would update within about 10mins of playing the game. I'm using iOS6 on my iPad (3) and mountain lion on my mac. Any ideas why the 'mobile documents' folder is not updating? as now I cannot make a back up of my files with this method. Any help would be appreciated.

After reading this I do not mess with the Mobile Documents folder at all.

wow thanks for the interesting link. I haven't moved the mobile documents folder, but I have renamed some of the files to make duplicates of a couple of my games, maybe that's caused the problem. Cynic, what's your method of saving game files? (if you are)

For more clarity - I didn't actually change the name of the mobile documents files as such, but I made duplicates by copying say slot1 game to my desktop, renaming it as slot2 and then replacing slot2 in the mobile documents folder with the slot2 file from my desktop, so that the games in slot1 and slot2 in the mobile documents folder were actually the same game (duplicate). Maybe this has stopped the folder from updating...?

I was duplicating them to another hdd. But after reading that and hearing similar horror stories about that folder. I quit messing with it.

I think Time Machine makes a backup of it if you use that. At least it appears to be backing it up.

I just went and checked my latest Time Machine Backup and no Apple does not back up the Mobile Documents folder. Now I feel I need to find a safe way to back it up myself.

It's probably ok to copy and save the files to the desktop, as they mention in the article, but I'm not sure about restoring them if needed, as that's similar to what I did to create the duplicates - changing the data of the files in the mobile documents folder, though not the names. Amazingly, since we've been writing, 2 of the files in the mobile documents folder did update . Talk about coincidence after not changing for 2 days, they change while I'm typing about them However, there's still something odd going on as the files that updated don't correspond to the character slots I was playing. I think I'll just keep playing and trust iCloud will work, it's not really given me any reason to believe it won't.
