Gears 1 and 2?

I'm still new to these forums, but i've been a huge gears fan for years. Stupid question probably, but are people still playing gears 1 and 2 online?
I've been playing the hell out of 3 online, first one i've really played extensively or gotten a chance to play online more often. I'd like to play then again and go for the online cheevos and everything. But do people still play?

I would have to say yes they do. There is always that group of people that stick on a earlier game even when a newer one is out. Im not sure if it is a lot or not though.

People still play both of those games yes but the communities there are very small in comparison to Gears 3.

ok, I tried playing gears 2 yesterday. Just seemed like I only got bots for it when I joined a game online, but that doesn't surprise me. Does the same with me on gears 3 since i'm in Japan and my connection isn't always great (as fast as they say it is)

gears 1 population is quite big for an old game, but gow2 is dead i rarely got a full team, usually bots when i was going for a few achievements a few weeks ago

I actually played a few matches (ranked) in 1 yesterday, so they are definitely still active.

I do switch game to game alot and on gears 2 you will usually find a whole group of friends on one team and then you and one other lonely kid with bots on your team. Gears 1 you cannot find hardley anybody on ranked matches. Player matches which are quick matches in gears 3, you can find alot of friendly fire battles and people working on glithes.
