There was an Official thread on the Rank reset issue which has since been closed thus I have decided I am now only going to continue this page as a place to talk about the issue
I do not have time to update the list every day, I would be still updating to this day with no end in sight.


OK So I assume you have been rank reset and that is what's brought you here, Rank resets occur due to a corruption of your "player data" file. You usually won't know that your player data file has been corrupted until you boot up the game and press start at the main menu and see that you are now rank 1. Unfortunately, once you have pressed start at the main menu your corrupted player data file will also overwrite your server data when you pressed start. That is why EPIC cant do nothing to restore it, as soon as this happens there is NO way to recover your data unless you made a backup beforehand.

I only just did this Christmas Day and it worked, yes you will have to play campaign again but now I can unlock the Friendly fire, for the horde!, and the avatars!

Screen Freeze is a big factor in rank resets. Many people suffer screen freeze continually when playing. So i decided to keep a record. This is my Personal Screen Freeze Record which I recorded over a 1 month period 22/12/2011 - 29/01/2012
I play approx 6 hours a day, I play mainly private insane horde, or private/public normal beast - I still suffer screen freeze up until this day

22/12/11 - Beast Mode (during game play)

25/12/11 - Capaign Act 3 Chapter 3 In car firing vulcan at reavers via 4 player Arcade when Marcus said 'reaver in the road' (2nd Attempt HOST then froze) me and the host played from the beginning of the campaign 2 player and did not freeze once and then from Act 3 chapter 2 we started playing 4 player and then froze twice in Act 3 Chapter 3, Third time we did it with no problems

26/12/11 - Private Horde, Insane, three hard mutators, Thrashball, Wave 7, Middle of Wave

27/12/11 - Private Horde, Insane, three hard mutators, Trenches, Wave 22, Countdown timer stopped at 26 seconds

28/12/11 - Private Horde, Insane, three hard mutators, Thrashball, End of Wave 18 scoreboard

SCREEN FREEZE UPDATE OVER 1 YEAR OF RESEARCH

I have been studying the reason behind screen freeze since release, I personally have suffered through all modes constantly since release and did play with the QA's and went to epic and met them personally regarding this to try solve the issue but it is a baffling situation and none could work it out or stop it. I should of got my 'I helped the community' badge by now, as well as Thevious for his back up thread. I had long given up responding to threads because there is far to many with no end in sight, and also my solutions gets disregarded. But I will post this again.

Don't waste your time, deleting cache, deleting/recovering profile, reinstalling game, new Xbox, etc its all been tried 100 times.

I have found only two ways to reduce this issue.

1. Reboot Gears of War 3 every 1h - (1 and half hours if you wanna push it)
2. Create a new gamer tag http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...-screen-freeze

On issue 1. My idea here has worked quite well and it's now used regularly by both the horde and beast communities religiously.

On issue 2. I have received lots of sceptism but I am only telling everyone what's worked for me, I experimented for 8 weeks and no screen freeze. Nobody seems willing to try it

I mentioned this club a few days ago. Nice to see someone taking point on this topic and posting the poor gears who got reset.
VicDBEST 19 Onyx, all horde, all mutators, all gear characters, almost all locusts and more reset 5 days ago. I was getting frozen during Horde and versus on different versus modes for some reason. at one point it was like 4 times in a day. Finished off playing arcade with my brother on xbox live sat dec 17. then signed off. When i signed on a few hours later i was reset. I also split screen sometimes and got frozen up. I just wish i had heard about backing data and got some warning before this happened. Im sorry to hear my fellow fallen brothers suffered the same fate as I. Isnt it some MAJOR BS that they are going to start prestige in gears, that just pissed me off more. We should all play sometime!!!

Sorry to hear man, and don't be so hard on yourself. There are lots of people who got reset and didn't know about reseting in gears3 or even how to backup their data.
I just got lucky I was on here to keep updated on the events when people started reporting about them.

I'm in 14th position in your list. My rank and stats got reset after my game froze playing a splitscreen online horde. You can add that if you want to. Btw, my partner in the splitscreen didn't suffer the reset, although her player data appeared as corrupted.

Thanks Epic. I was on the fence about whether or not to get Gears 3 after playing Gears 2 (online), but when I heard there would be dedicated servers, you had me sold!

So again; thank you Epic. I will never again have to second guess my decision for buying or recommending a game you develop.

Yes, I was definitively iffy on GOW3 since GOW2 was such a disaster of a sequel from the amazing original GOW. Epic you have held up to your name of being an EPIC FAIL production company. I have never had such a poor experience from a specific development company than you Epic. I will admit the game play has improved tremendously from GOW2. Where ya'll failed so terribly at after making the original, but never the less you have found a way to make
your costumers experiences to be of the up most disappointment. Congratulations Epic for retiring some of the original costumers of your products, and finally showing the world how you do not care about your costumers by this negligence to your fans.


P.S. By the way, if you have major malfunctions such as this in the future. Create plenty of back up severs to protect your costumers info, or at least create methods of giving them their **** back GD amateurs. On this note, since ya,ll do not want to offer technical support. I had the lovely moment of being told I was **** out of luck by Xbox live support today, and once again thank you very much, and you can count on losing me and many others as your costumers in the future!
