Escalation, ahhhh got to love that map I am pretty sure epic will add a new power weapon in that map since people will complain about it -_-. Now hopefully Raven's down makes a future download.

I hope the map has a easter egg to enable that Flashback Color effect when it was featured in the campaign (obviously make difficult to enable in gameplay like the Pimp Wretch in Checkout)

If the map is done right, I think it will be fine. I never had issues on it in the hundreds to thousands of times I played it in Gears 1.
Bottom = Power weapons to work their way up.
Top = not so much but has the higher ground.

We don't know what the weapons will be as the remakes do have different weapons than their original. This map had the TRUE Hammerburst - but what will go in its place?

I absolutely 100% couldn't agree more! Escalation is just overpass without the side streets! It's actually going to be WORSE than overpass!

I did have an exchange with Quinn Delhoyo (level designer, works for MS but the way I understand he's the man responsible for the changes to Trenches and Trashball) on twitter and he said that it's "now mainly a horde map"...my response to him was "A horde map that will still be in the MP map cycle, right?" but i haven't heard anything back yet...

Keyword is gear 1,it wont be gnashers and lag fest.Assault riffle that work and saw off will be the game.Map was playable in gears 1,but in gears 3 its gonna be overpass whit less fun XD

Not everyone agrees on maps. I love Blood drive but think Bullet Marsh is lacking. People are almost never going to agree but everyone hates Overpass.
I loaded up my GOW1 disk to see it (never played it). I think a lot of people are nostalgic when it comes to the old maps but some would be horrible GOW3 maps. I am surprised they went with Escalation.

in my opinion, escalation looked steeper in Gears 1, than in Gears 3.
Hopefully there are some changes or this map is going to be a disaster like Overpass. D;

Of course there will be. One mans garbage is another mans treasure, it'll always be that way. The problem isn't that people are going to cry about it, eventually, it's that Gears 3 is different from Gears 1/2 and bringing once great maps back doesn't always work or carry that same nostalgia over because they are completely different games.


Also the game modes are so radically awkward that you really do need game type specific maps. Clocktower, while fun for most modes, is absolutely atrocious for KOTH. The close quarters make hill changes nearly pointless for whoever has the stranglehold, and nearly the entire round depends on who takes the first hill and boomshot.

Depends how you look at it man. Escalation is one of the best Gears of war maps of all time but but but but BUT !!!!!

On TDM it will be a joke as people are saying. Hold the top and rifle the bottom spawn = game over

This is why my clan play execution, the way gears should be played in my eyes sorry. Non of this crap team mate with 1 kill 18 deaths

Saying that if the Boltoks still spawn at top and Snipers at the bottom it may work in favour holding the bottom also so it may pan out ok who knows !

This map will make a terrible Gears 3 map, and as usual Epic will take forever to address any of the problems. It's almost as if Epic takes a sadistic pleasure off of angering their fanbase.

Well you pretty much only play CTL right? In those gamemodes unbalanced maps don't really matter. It matters a lot in TDM/Warzone/Execution, etc.

Of all the great maps they could have brought back, they decided to bring back this one. I don't understand.

Gäycinto is totaly overrated! The game forced us to play it! It was always in the map choosing thing and if it was a 5:5 on a vote there was always jacinto ... or pavillion (even more gäy)

I don't think it will be personally. Theres plenty of cover and if the bottom team is smart, they'll use the cover and smoke grenades to make their way up. They also spawn with snipers and if there was a digger or two or a torque bow added tothe bottom side then it would be easy to counter the rifles.
