Thread: Marching Cubes

    Default Marching Cubes

Hello, everyone. I was wanting to know if UDK has any marching cubes integrated into it. They might call it something different, so I'll elaborate: marching cubes are a method of using imaginary voxels to map out a solid object/terrain, but rather than solid box pixels, it places a series of polygons to match up the spaces and has a very organic look to it.

    Here's some examples:
    Marching cubes in Unity.
    More marching cubes in Unity.

I would love to know if this is already in UDK, or if it can be fairly easily plugged in from a third party, or if I would just need to do it myself.

Truth be told, I have not had a chance to play around with a computer that can handle UDK and was weighing my options between using UDK or Unity, and this is a major factor in my choice, so I would really appreciate any input on the matter.

    -Thanks.

Nope. You have to license the engine if you want to add something like this, as you need source code access.

Unreal has a nice terrain editor, but I don't know if it can do tunnels.
