Should Epic make new playable female locusts? (Versus Game Mode)

Purpose of this Thread:

To gain supporters who want to see the addition of new female locusts in versus.

I'm not a huge fan of the locust back story simply because so many questions are left unanswered. There are a lot of possibilities but I really do think they are never going to cover the actual conception of the Locusts. I'm hoping that they could just throw us a playable character or two and I'd be happy with that.

If they do add in these new locusts, I hope they incorporate them into their next Gears of War game as well as Gears of War 3 versus!

Poll Options:

1. Update the backstory and create female locusts. - Flesh out the back story of the Locust Horde by adding new events and information about mating, reproduction, etc. to explain the emergence of these "new" female locusts. (least likely scenario)
2. Don't update the backstory and just give us female locusts. - Create them without any back story and throw them into the Gears Universe. (most likely scenario)
3. Assign a locust as "Female" and possibly change the character model. - Assign a current "locust breed" to be female. IE: All Kantus are female.
4. Don't do it, it's a waste of time. - Don't create them at all.

Q - All this just for one stupid medal?/Who cares about the Battle Mistress Medal?
A - This thread has almost nothing to do with the Battle Mistress Medal, other than it's a motivation for multiple players to choose the exact same character skin in versus. Because of the medal, you will often see multiple players all using Myrrah.
Q - Aren't Beserkers the only female locusts?/What do you want mini-beserkers?
A - It is true, that apart from Myrrah, Beserkers are in fact the only female locusts in the Gears Universe, but the mission of this thread is not to get "mini-beserkers". This thread is about adding NEW locusts who are not a part of the Gears Universe to the Gears of War 3 Versus game mode.
Q - Do you want a new Myrrah skin or something?/We could get the Myrrah skin from Gears of War 2?
A - This is definitely a great idea, and something I am sure Epic is going to produce in the future. So I am 100% for this idea, but I really don't think it's enough variety for versus.
Q - Why do you want more female locusts in versus?/How many female skins do the COG have?
A - In playing Gears of War 3, you'll notice while playing versus or horde there are currently 4 (soon to be 5) female COG skins. While on the Locust side of versus there is only 1 female skin. I can speculate for hours as to why this is, the overall problem is that you have "No Choice" but to choose Queen Myrrah if you want to be a female locust. This gets to be very annoying/repetitive/boring because the same dialogue is said over, and over, and over. What multiplies this problem... Is that if more than one person on your team is playing as Queen Myrrah (I've seen 5/5 players as her before) you have no power to easily distinguish between your team mates.

I vote for update! After all, there are so many things we don't know about the Early Locust War. What if Myrrah had an... advisor? Looked similiar to her, Locust/human mix or something and she was killed by... Kim? Tai? Dom? A. Carmine (lol)? 5 years after the war started. If you think about it t's possible.

Berserkers = Female Drones. Also, keep in mind that Berserkers are noted as the only females by the COG. Remember how Kantus were unheard of until Gears 2? I'll bet there's dozens of Locust variants that humans have never even encountered yet.
Female Kanti do exist, so the best chance of more female Locust characters lies with them.

I hate to break it to you but the only females are Berserkers and Myrrah. I guess a mini Berserker and mini Lambent Zerker that were the size of a standard locust could work. And maybe a gears 2 myrrah called "classic myrrah"

I'm definitely not talking about a mini beserker or anything like that, but a genuinely new locust (that's female). A re-skinning of a character such as Myrrah would just not be enough because we'd have the same annoying voice (sorry to the voice actor, you did a good job but it's just annoying to hear over and over during MP)

The reason for this thread has absolutely nothing to do with earning the Battle Mistress Medal... (I have 5 of these onyx so far, it's not hard to get) It does however have everything to do with the available choices in versus. I almost always play as a female character, and having the locust side limited to only 1 female character model is annoying. I play consistently with 2 other people who also play as the locust queen in versus.

Think about it in terms of strategy... and also in comparison to the COG choices. Does it make sense that every time I play with my 2 friends we have at least 3/5 team members with the queen skin (The only female option for the Locust side)? I've played in a match with 5/5 players as Myrrah and that's just ridiculous!

I concede to the fact that it may only be a minor annoyance... and that it's not the most demanded addition to the game. It is still frustrating to consider this is going to be the versus we are going to be playing for years to come. I really believe there should be new females characters added (by any of the 3 methods in my OP). Not only would this expand the locust versus choices, but it also opens up the gears universe for new stories, and reasons why these "new" females exist!

I can understand why it wouldn't matter much to the everyday gamer, or even the hardcore Gear Heads, but there is a fan base that does want to see this no matter how small it might be.

I think that could be interesting... as long as they looked more like locusts and not mistakable for human COG.

I wonder if any artists would try to come up with some female locust concepts...

Yes MattyHudson, Beserkers are the only females in the Gears of War universe (unless you count Myrrah). My point in making this thread is to add in a NEW species/breed in order to offset the male dominant locust side in versus. (Having only 1 female locust to choose from is weaksauce)

Since people seem to not understand entirely what I'm trying to suggest, i'm going to update the OP

Exactly what I thought, I understand that "common knowledge" in the COG is that Beserkers are the only females but there could be other variants that are undiscovered. Reasons for them to stay back in the hive would be procreation for the army, care takers for the young locusts, etc. It doesn't mean they couldn't be added for variety's sake. I'm not even demanding that they explain thoroughly the back story of the new locust type(s), I think it would be better if they didn't. They could then make them part of the campaign during a prequel.

Berserker are the only female locus the queen is not a real locus so she special. aka Marcus's mom. if there where more female locus other then a lint size Berserker it would make the story differ from the novels. Will not happen!

I'm assuming the "female Kantus exist" bit of apocrypha is somehow related to the Kantus having their reproduction separate from the whole drone/Berserker thing.

I am of the school that Kantus either: 1. are effectively sexless because they're all of a nonreproductive caste, or 2. come in two biological sexes but female Kantus look exactly like male Kantus and only they can tell each other apart.

Or third and best option: Kantus Knights are the ladies because they're larger and more muscular than the males. The Locust bear out "the female of the species is far more deadly than the male" time and time again.


Otherwise I'm all for this. Give us another DLC with more information on the Locust that includes a couple of missing castes that happen to be non-reproductive, fighting females. (It has always been my head-canon that the Berserkers encountered in the field are past the age of reproductive viability. If you're in a war for survival, as the COG demonstrate, you don't risk your childbearers. Even if they can blow through walls and shrug off bullets.)

I'm all in for a story update to add a(some) female locust. But you should consider another thing, Do the comics or novels say of or hint at other female locust? I know the Berserker and Corpser are female but I'm talking humanoid like Myrrah.

Side note: I read somewhere that Myrrah is indeed a cross between human and locust DNA, like the sires from Gears 2 only successfully figured. But don't read too much into it, I may have read some fanfic and got it mixed up.

i know the locust breed through rape, but they should atleast make Queen Myrrah (Nexis Gears 2), Savage Myrrah, or a female class of PALACE GUARDS so that they would be a perfect fit for the "hitbox ratio" so no complaints

Go tell the ants in your yard they need more female ants, because the queen and the workers aren't enough. Why would they need to cover the conception? They don't explain how the humans happened to exist on Sera, why should the need to explain how the locusts got there? Granted, we'd all like to know but it's not some huge plot hole or flaw. If you don't like playing as Myrrah, be a real badass and play as RAAM. There's plenty of options for multiplayer, going OH IT'S NOT A GIRL WAHHH is dumb.

This is the only way I can think of this being possible. Berserkers are female Drones, which encompass Drones, Grenadiers, Therons, Savage, etc.

Don't think the community would react well to it, as everybody already hates Kantus Krazy Hitbox shenanigans.

I think you'd be the only one playing as her though. Even if we did have a Female, asking someone to play as a Theron in MP, to them, is the same as asking them to drink Anthrax.
