Not only did they introduce noob weapons to be used as a crutch for poor players, but they removed the single-life based draw factor. IMO this is what did the most damage. Single life gametypes heavily promoted good team communication, and the single life made the game more challenging and fun. You came to cherish that one life, and doing so meant that you needed to gain skill in order to do so.

Honestly I can't really respect the opinions of people that never experienced the previous Gears, especially Gears 1, because most only played 2 once they were done with the Beta. They never were there to see how the series has grown and changed. Of course Gears 3 is amazing to them, they have no point of reference. I do think that the gib animations are worse in 3. The maps are unimaginative for the most part, with key elevation areas that turn the game into a much more campy and slower paced game than the previous Gears.

I find it funny how as soon as someone has the opinion such as yourself or I, we are considered trolls or butthurt vets that want some unfair advantage back. The truth is most new age gamers are pansies, and scoff at any kind of challenge, which is the real reason they turned their backs on the previous Gears. They couldn't handle the aggressive playstyle and the single life game modes, now that Gears 3 has taken away this challenge, it is the best game ever to them. It is the very reason a series that has become as terrible as CoD can be so popular, because it is incredibly easy, and most people are too lazy or unskilled to deal with challenge in games anymore.
exactly, you know the feeling me and others have. And while I will still play Gears 3 from time to time (just got skyrim) it isnt the same

Yeah, but that's because the game works. I'll take a game that works over a game that is artificially more difficult due to things being broken. I loved Gears 1 and played the crap out of it. I'm still in the top 800 in ranked Execution. That being said, both Gears 1 and 2 were broken, especially Gears 2.

I have no problem with any of the weapons in Gears 3. Yeah the sawed-off is annoying, but I see a lot less of it now and it's easy to counter. The rifle power doesn't bother me at all as I still get the vast majority of my kills with the Gnasher.
I am very glad you are enjoying the game, truly I am. And I wish I was too, but i guess I work differently than you my friend. Hopefully we do play together sooner than later tho, I still have my copies of Gears

I'm truly disappointed that you and many others don't enjoy the game. I really wish you did though. I don't know what it would take for you to enjoy it, but it would probably be farther than Epic is willing to go. I think this is the game they always wanted Gears to be and I don't see them abandoning that.

I'm totally with you man! For once I feel that the Versus mode is more accessible for everyone! In Gears 2 I only played Horde, I tried Versus but just got raped by the vets. The people who are not satisfied with Gears 3 is ALWAYS the same group: The vets from Gears 1 and 2. They are trying to turn Gears 3 into a Gnasher party like Gears 1 and 2 was, all the weapons are balanced, multiplayer maps are awesome with more on the way, DLC's, huge character rooster, arcade, Horde 2.0, THIS GAME IS AWESOME.
I think the vets just can't accept that in todays Gears you can be killed by a rifle while wielding a Gnasher.
Give me a Lancer, a Gnasher, a Snub and a Smoke and I'll take on the whole damn Locust Horde myself.
