fair enough, lets say in the slab the guards force a "fight" between prisoners say for their own amusement or money, is that "combat"? perhaps said inmate is haunted by memories, or honoring the memory of a fallen comrade in arms, he is reliving these moments over and over in his mind, he wakes drenched in sweat each night, his thoughts drifting backwards in time even as he sits imprisoned and unable to do anything to affect the outcome of the war, one night as the rain pounda down outside, as the screams of inmates, fellow former gears, being tortured by guards,echo thru the slab, the sounds of emergence holes and gunsfire bellow in the air from afar, this prisoner smashes the mirror in his cell, looking down at the floor he sees his face in a shard of broken glass, in a maelstrom of hatred, self loathing and anger he gashes his own face, thus he is "fighting" his demons, is this "combat", it would seem that we two see combat on the battle field and combat in other arenas from very different point of views, that is o.k. my opnion doesnt make your wrong and your opinion doesnt change my view, we simply see it differently. such is the nature of things..

If i remember correctly it was the guard that let the dogs out. The guard beat him pretty good when he got there but this attack was led by the fact his son was just killed in action. When Marcus look up at him on the catwalk thing he told him a was sorry about what happened to his son. The guard waited then trapped them in a hallway section and released the dogs. Pretty much Marcus got the scar but it could have been alot worse. The dog bit his face, instead of pulling the dog off himself and tearing his face partially off he held the dog to his body and killed it. And then its pretty much what Coleyman said.

He got bit in the face by a guard dog in the slab. They stitched him up but the scar never left. He hated dogs then after.
