PS: I have ofcourse painted weights on the RIG before taking it into UDK and everything looked fine.

    I figured out what was the problem for me, I don't know if it's useable for you but what fixed it for me was that I am using the UDK skeleton so that I can use the existing animations in UDK, and to get my character into UDK i used FBX to export it, and for some reason if I saved and exited maya the bind pose would disappear which is obviously something UDK needs to use the character with the existing animations, so I had to bind the skeleton to my character and paint the weights and export it all in one session without exiting maya, if you have a complex character you can test if this will work for you with a simple boxman character which can be weighted in 10-15 minutes.

    Im having a similar problem. Its only that mine looks pretty good. Its just i havent skinned him properly. Im using 3ds max. And i would really appreciate if someone repainted the weights for use within the UDK. Here is what it looks like;
