[GCON] Community Night: We're Back & Better Than Ever!

After a short break, Gears Community Online Network is back with our revamped Community Nights! We've changed up how these events are going to be run and are aiming to bring the best events to the Gears of War Community. First off, Community Nights will no longer be weekly events. We're sorry to make this change, but because we want to bring the best prizes and experience we wanted to make these unique nights special. Instead we will be having a monthly community night on the 3rd Sunday of every month, starting this weekend, Sunday November 20th. You did read that correctly, another change we are implementing is that Community Nights will be on Sunday Nights to accommodate attendance. We know people are very busy on Saturdays and sometimes can't make it. Another change is that we staggering the event times to be more friendly to our hosts and gamers in Europe. We know the 10 PM GMT time was another tough time to make, so European Lobbies will open early with 7 to 10 PM GMT start and finish time, while hosts in North America will be starting at 7PM EST.

Also, we are announcing today is that our Community Nights are going to be dedicated to the entire Gears community! We're teaming up with a variety of different Gears of War Fan Sites to bring the best experience to Gears of War Fans. You can expect to see faces from Team Epic Gamers, Gears of War Charity, Gears of War Events, WeTheGamerz and more! We'll be bringing some of the biggest names in the Gears of War Community for you meet and play with once a month. If this hasn't excited you yet, wait for next month!

This weekends event will have standard custom lobbies along with Horde and Beast Lobbies for those people who are trying to grind out those Onyx Medals!

Attending Our Events

If you haven’t attended any of our events or heard of Gears Community Online Network (GCON) before here is what will be going on this Sunday. We will be hosting different types of Custom, Cooperative, and Public Lobbies that everyone is welcome too join. Lobbies will start opening at 7 PM GMT for European Attendees & 7 PM EST for North American Attendees with hosts from several different regions worldwide to give you the best connections possible. To join a match, simply message a host from your desired region from the list that we will post on Sunday about fifteen minutes before the event starts. Once you are in a lobby, we invite you to stay as long as you like and most lobbies run an average of three to five fours depending on attendance.

• Themed Multiplayer Lobbies: Our private multiplayer lobbies. Play with other community members on connection and personality-tested hosts for some great community experiences. This season also marks the return of our old school “GCON themed” nights, which adds new twists to your Gears of War 3 experience. Don’t forget, these multiplayer lobbies count towards earning those Onyx Medals for your profile too!

• Cooperative Multiplayer Lobbies: We now offer dedicated hosts for Arcade, Horde, and Beast mode at every single Community Night event in the future. We’re also assisting all our cooperative hosts in unlocking as many mutators as possible so you don’t have to.

• Public Multiplayer Lobbies: For those of you simply looking to get into the action online with some new friends, we’ll be running public lobbies throughout each Saturday event.

To win a prize entry ticket, simply play and finish a full match in one of the GCON hosted lobbies for the night to earn an entry into the prize draw. You may earn only ONE entry per Community Night event, no matter how many full matches you play over however many different lobbies.

Once the event is over, we'll gather all the attendee lists and draw a winner at random using Random.org's number generator. Winners will usually be drawn on the Wednesday after the event. Winners will then be contacted via Xbox Live message and listed in the thread by gamertag - you will be given 7 full days to contact us before a redraw is conducted.

If you are a returning fan, we are running on a completely different system than before - there will be NO end of season prize draw. Prizes will be awarded on a per-event basis.

Yeah we talked about it and decided it be best. Since UK attendance was fairly low at times. I am sure the 10pm-1am didn't help that. So we decided to stagger just the UK and US. This also helps US players that may want to hop on early or UK players that want to hop on late.

Sweet, two events to attend this weekend. EGFC Event on Saturday, and this one on Sunday. This will be the most I have played GoW3 since the day of release. Question, is there a list of dedicated hosts for this event already that I am overlooking? Point me in the right direction. :]

The good part is you don't have to game until 3am now. Since the UK will be starting at 7pm GMT instead of 10pm GMT.

i havent played this since the last weeks of gears 2 are the hosts still the same?, i enjoyed crimson tides lobbys
..also are you guys still looking for hosts? ive gotten myself new internet so i should be a decent conection now :L
