    Default "Casual Fcks"

I just love how Epic Games just had to cater the final game to the "casual gamer." The casual gamer = The people who sucked at all of the other gears and are going to go play MW3 in 2 weeks anyway. Why not stick with the original fan base? I love the ones that say, ADAPT... Maybe you should have adapted from COD for Gears 1 and Gears 2? For real though.. this game just does not have the epic moments as either of the past games.

If you good with the Lancer and Gnasher, your still going to destroy casuals. I dont see why people are complaining. Sawed off just encourages people to volunteer as canon fodders and charge in a vain attempt to kill you. If you know how to play, you will still be way better than the casuals.

    I agree................
All of my comments come from an Execution players perspective, and change for the sake of change is not progression.

What they should have done is just left the Casual Playlist open for newer players, but removed the Gnasher Shotgun, for those who wished to play the game as it was intended to be played. Not that I'm suggesting those who don't use the Gnasher are 'Casual', just that without the Gnasher the game would have a much slower pace. Opening the series for those who don't want to have to become good at the 'twitch-style' Gnasher battles.

Then, have the regular playlists with the Gnasher but without the Sawed-Off, for players who want both a mix of Gnasher battles, and Rifle play.

The only reason, I believe, EPIC brought in the Sawed-Off was to purely combat the Gnasher. Thus, if it didn't exist in the first place, hence my "Casual Playlist" idea, we wouldn't need it in the first place; because the Gnasher wouldn't exist in that playlist. Or, they could just include the S/O in the 'Casual' playlist purely for close-encounters?

I dunno, just making up ideas really...

Right. there is a difference between how it was intended to be played and how it was played. It would be a lot more fun if SO was in only Casual though. throw the retro in with it

You can still play aggressively with the gnasher and cross with lancer. Keeps things interesting but also tactical. Makes it fun.

    Pretty much.

Have a set of playlists that are heavily built on Rifle Play, and throw the S/O in their for instances when you happen to get up close to a person. Then have a set of playlists where the S/O is removed, and people can have purely the playstyle that Gears 1 and 2 had.

The problem is that EPIC have taken all the Gnasher-heads, the Rifle-Heads, all the Casuals and thrown them together. Right now, the game is all over the place.

Go play in the Casual Playlist. It's all Lancer and Gnasher in there. They don't use the SO. That noob gun was intended for their use but experienced players are the once who benefit from the cheap **** in this game.

Right, but even I would appreciate a mode where I don't have to deal with any Shotguns. Or, If I do, it's on a minimal basis.

Granted, I've had some good Shotgun matches, but rarely have I had any good Rifle matches. Not even in Gears 3.

I find it funny how people throw the word "casual" around like an insult as if casually playing video games makes someone uncool. Like someone else in this thread mentioned if you're so good at this game then casuals shouldn't be any problem for you, you should be killing them left, right and center. People seem to be exaggerating just how much gears has changed. Yeah sure it has changed quite a bit since the first game but the core mechanics are still there. I still find plenty of videos online of people decimating whole teams with the gnasher and getting hipfired head shots with the longshot. I loved gears 1 and had a lot of fun playing it but I couldn't stand gears 2, to me this game is a balance between the two. It still has all the fast paced close quarter battles of the first game but has also implemented a bit more tactical work from the second game.

Has the popularity of video games affected the way they are being made? Yes of course it has, but video games are still damn fun! Sounds to me like most "hardcore" gamers believe that games should cater to them and them only and everyone else shouldn't even be considered. Sorry sweethearts but the world doesn't revolve around you, there is another audience that wants to join in too, this isn't a VIP club.

I can honestly say that I can see EPIC actually removing the Sawed-off from Public Versus after MW3. Maybe that's just me being optimistic, but I sure hope I'm right.

If it weren't for the casual players, in my opinion, there wouldn't be a Gears 3. The hardcore "vet" population is quite obviously dwarfed by the amount of casuals out there, and if you thought otherwise, I'll call you insane.

If you had a decision to make more money by appealing to more casual-type players to make more money, I'm pretty sure almost anyone would take it. Because, the simple truth: they are making video games for money, for a profit. Not for you specifically. I would certainly hope by now that you would realize that it is impossible to make a game that everyone will like.

Though, I do appreciate you not saying "we" vets anywhere. Anyone who does that makes the Veteran community look ignorant and unable to adapt, regardless of how much time the casual community had to adapt to Gnasher play-style.

One last thing, well there's really nothing you can do about the whole SO issue, but hey, look at the bright side, you COULD throw Gnasher parties in private.

The skill factor in recent games have gone down tremendously! Why isn't anyone making games that require skill anymore? When I played Gears 1, it took so much time to master the game. In Unreal Tournament, it also took a long time to master that game. Both of these were made by Epic and I thus loved them for making them. I had my hopes too high for Gears 3, I thought the game was going to require skill... guess I was slapped right across face which still leaves a scar to this day.

    For me:

    Skill = fun
    No skill = no fun

I suppose. But to think it's realistic to expect Epic to take out a gun in an already completed game is like all the CoD kids begging Treyarch to take the FAMAS out of the game- it just isn't going to happen.

It is, however, realistic to petition Epic to create a Classic or Classic-type play list. If we continue to be civil and get enough people behind us, I'm sure they'll listen.

Well, that's exactly my view on it lol. Idc if it's not removed, I WANT CLASSIC. But i also would hope for a rifles only playlist so that they do not get jumbled up with the classic players looking for gnasher fights. Would be better for both groups :/

It still does take skill to master certain games. Gears 3 may not take as much dedication as the first game but anyone with skill will easily defeat a casual player every single time. Gears 1 was hard to master to me simply becaue of how flawed it was, the host advantage, the lag, the glitches. You had to get better to learn how to deal with all the crap, this game is a lot less flawed and therefore isn't as difficult to deal with.

There are still plenty of difficult games out there, simply raising the difficulty will make some games very hard. Dark souls, Dead Space 2 on hardcore mode, Mortal Kombat on Expert etc etc. Sure games become more accessible as the market grows but the skilled players are still more visible above the casual ones.

casuals are never a problem skilled players usind the SOS retro combo are those guns are so easy to abuse its sick.
Gears of war won`t move forward because as a community we look down on others as noobs all the time and blame epic when we fail. Why would anyone continue to play a game when they`re getting bashed constantly after every mistake? There will never be cool gametypes or more than 5v5 because all the "vets" are living in Gears 1 land and can`t take change.

Lets stick with the GOW series. Overall, a lot of people miss the dissapearing skill gap and that the last game would actually require skill like the other ones

Maybe you should have adapted from COD for Gears 1 and Gears 2? For real though.. this game just does not have the epic moments as either of the past games.
Because the casual fan base outnumbered you kids 800 to 1. EPIC catered to them because they had to balance the game. Giving them a weapon they could use effectively at the cost of the hardcore Gnasher kids sanity was good enough for more than 300,000 people to play the game. If Gears of War had continued in line with the "original fan base" this game would have been so piss poor that nobody would put it back in their disc tray to consider looking at the title screen.
