Default The texture you are importing is not a power of two.

    Hi!

I'm getting more familiar with UDK, so I decided I would hop over to Photoshop and start creating my own textures. To start, I made a simple grass texture following this tutorial. However, when I import
into UDK via the content browser, I receive an error "The texture you are importing is not a power of two. Non power of two textures are never streamed and have no mipmaps. Proceed?" . If I continue, the texture is imported however it's not how I had designed in Photoshop (it's smeared). I have no idea what this means. Am I creating the texture wrong?

I searched the forums and Google and didn't get any relevant results, I appreciate all responses!

    Windows 7 x64
    UDK-2011-09 (Version: 8916)

    Thanks

Yes, you're creating your textures wrong.

    The dimensions need to be a power of 2--so like 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024 and so on

    Thanks for your reply.

After creating a quick texture in Photoshop to be 256 x 256 (pixels), I didn't get the Power of two error, however it still failed to import with the error "Import Failed". Other than dimensions, is there anything special I have to be doing in Photoshop?

If you haven´t already= safe your texture as a .TARGA format. bmp and png should work to.

    Make sure it's a 24-bit targa or a 32-bit targa, 16-bit doesn't import

Also make sure it's in RGB mode.
Please don't send me private messages asking how to use UDK unless it has to do with my work, everything I can teach is already out there.

I am not support, I am here to learn myself.

You'll have crazy performance issues and the textures will look noisy from a distance. At least that's what happened to me when i tried that.
