Now that I've played all 3 games in the trilogy, I have to say, here I am back at 2. It's the best compromise of everything IMO. Sure the lag is horrible at times, but the wall bounce/cancel is evolved from 1 but not as "arcadey" as 3. Your character moves like it looks....heavy and cumbersome, but not so much that you can't use your skill/familiarity to move adeptly through the map to evade and attack. The weapons are powerful enough to have a niche at every part of the map, but I don't have to worry about camping S/O users. I do wish the longshot was as effective as it is in 3, but I think the torque bow is better in 2.
Overall, I just dig the gameplay and intensity in 2 the most of all the games. I wish EPIC wasn't resigned to stopping improvements for the MP, but I'm here to stay until 3 can inspire and excite me the way 1 & 2 do. EPIC, you almost had it perfect with 2 fundamentally. I really wish 3 had ended up being more of an evolution, rather than a complete change. One way or another, I'll still be rockin Gears in one of it's iterations anytime I'm on my console.
