I used 3dsMax 2011 and Adobe Creative suite CS3 (Photoshop, AfterEffects).
I've been working as a graphics artist for over 8 years now so I have a reason to buy these expensive packages.

but there are free alternatives like Blender and Gimp

Just a brief question here because I can't seem to find the answer on the UDN and can't afford to make a mistake at this stage as Itunes Connect closes for Xmas next week.

I've placed my distro app on my mac now ready for upload to iTunes,
Application loader is waiting for upload,
All my meta data is set,
the last problem or possible problem is that I can't figure out how to import my key pair/chain into the distro app...I don't know if this is necessary but the UDN Specifically said that I'll need to keep the key in a safe place ready to import onto my mac if I want to sell the app, but did not explain how to do it!

I have Xcode installed on my mac if that's needed to import the key pair....

If you have the time to explain my friend it would much appreciated...Or simply say that its not necessary to do this step if it isn't!

I didn't need to do the Xcode step you're talking about, I had my Distro Provision setup in UnrealFrontend, and used the stand-alone Application Loader (version 1.3) to upload my game onto iTunesConnect.
The good thing about the Application Loader is that it will tell you if you have a provisioning problem, so keep an eye out for any log messages, but if it uploads normally you don't have to worry about the provisioning headache any longer.
