"Gnasher battles" ?

SOOoooo what does everybody think of them? While it really annoys me how people who go around calling themselves "vets" (pointless title) who use nothing but the gnasher and constantly complain about all other weapons ( that's just the stereotype not trying to start anything with anybody), and I've always wanted gears to be a team based assault rifle fight the whole three games, I REALLY love the gnasher battles in all 3 games. Alot of the time I see people rushing me with sawed off or other people using rifles I constantly mow them down, but if I see somebody with gnasher rushing me I take it as a friendly challenge and instead of continuing being a lancer whore I accept it just because it's so fun that traditional fight all three games have. What are your thoughts on the "gnasher battles" themselves, please don't make this into a whining thread on what should be nerfed or not, and for God's sake leave the sawed off topic COMPLETELY untouched in this thread (Impossible I know )

first of all a "vet" is someone who has experience if im an iraq war veteran i've had tours and am experienced. you're probably a vet too if you've played gears 1 or gears 2

me too i love gnaser duels more than anything else gears has too offer. i can't stand the sos. i also want SP removed or lower the damage of the rifles casue SP isn't need when your downed in less than 3 seconds/1.4 with the retro

I like them. Love them or hate them, though, they give Gears "personality" that a lot of other multiplayer games lack.

Show some respect to the only reason gears of war survived this long online! No one said we are gnasher only users, we just prefer the gnasher to the easy button sawed off gun. gnasher Battles in gears of war are one of the best experiences you can have in a video game. Period.

I agree. Some people just put the phrase "Gears Veteran" to shame, but it's not a big deal. I complained a bit of my own, but nothing to the extent of what everyone else was doing. I even tried to defend what Epic was trying to do... I guess we can't win all the battles.

A vet to me is someone who has played both to the fullest. They don't have to have every achievement, but that is great to see. And yes, we are better at gears than new people. We earned that by so much playtime. No one knows the game like we do. We know it better than the developers in some aspects.

You are right though they DID make gears unique and people could play just that specific style just to have fun without rushing for power weapons or even doing the objectives! (I always loved going into annex player matches in gears 1 or social matches in gears 2 where people just constantly shotgun brawling not even caring about the objective [because you could respawn infinitely of course])

I personally feel like Gnasher Fights look silly, looks like no one can really aim and are frantically bouncing off the walls (literally!)
Same when people fire rounds into the wall so they can active reload into some better shots, just odd looking really...

what battles are you watching? in my battles it is over within 2-3 shots, every time. Even with crazy wallbounces.

Too bad EPIC ruined the franchise. I don't play gears 3, i went back to gears 2. The only problem is host, which i prefer over the amount of crap EPIC put into gears 3 to accommodate the noobs. one of the biggest disappointments of my life, seeing as how i ONLY play gears. now what am i left with? an outdated game with dwindling players.. thank god skyrim comes out next month

Same here but we are the exception, at least in my experience. Everyone else wastes shot after shot after shot after shot.................. after shot and its like, yay you finally killed him with your 10th shell. Hooray! Not. If you want excitement you gotta take your Hammerburst or Lancer and shove in his Gnasher-loving face in CQC combat.

shotty battles have always been the best part tht 1v1 whos the better man feeling (1v1+ for even more heart pounding rush) strafing back and forth like a dance bouncing of walls to get that perfect position hands down defined this games online experience. nothing else like it fell in love with this game the moment i started

Never liked shotgun battles. Never will. If I see teammates that don't go for our objective just to have dumb shotgunbattles I just spray their opponents from a distance. Get them back in line.

I liked Gnasher battles. I still do. What I never liked was how they quickly made multiplayer in Gears 1-dimensional because it was so easy to force someone into them. Shotgun battles take skill, but so does using a rifle (and with a rifle, you can't just get lucky). Letting them become so dominant was, in my opinion, a mistake on behalf of both Epic and the Gears community.

(P.S. - Wallbouncing is a glitch. Granted, it's a glitch that Epic can't fix - nor do they want to - but any complaints relating to it are moot. I've always done well without relying on it, and I think it's funny to gib some idiot by calculating where he'll be when he bounces)

Anyways, though I was ok with gnasher battles, I never really enjoyed them. I was always forced into them, only being able to fight gnasher against gnasher. I like now that I can fire from the hip or hard aim on just about every weapon to counter them now.

I'm sure I would have liked gnasher battles more if I played the multiplayer during gears 1. Granted, I didn't have internet at the time, so I couldn't really do anything about that.

if the gnasher is actually working and targets don't sponge bullets, the battles are quick and very satisfying. thankfully they usually are working in gears 3 for me. then again, I must be one of the few people who always gets to play on dedicated servers because apparently like 99% of the people on these forums are always on P2P.

If its a really close game I probably will do this but sometimes people just like a classic gnasher battle so even if they charge recklessly like a sawed off user I sometimes just let them off the hook
