If you make a backup, at least then you can get most of your stuff back if it does happen. As for what causes it? An epic failure?

And Sisko, you might need to change the title back to "Rank resets still occurring!"

If u can use 2 usb and delete the data on oldest create date every day when launching gears, it is safest most effective way of backing up data

Yup 2 backups is even better than 1. I would do that if i had another spare USB stick right now but I don't. can't hurt to be extra safe though

I would love to change the title to say the resets are still occuring, but the mods kept editing the thread title when it said that. They told me I was "scaring people". I think people SHOULD be scared if you ask me.

If we get reset should we delete the corrupted/glitched playerdata/campaign data from the HDD before restoring from the backup?

i can honestly say as long as i dont lose any of my exclusive skins im not worried, a level reset would suck but im going to get to 100 3x over in the time ill spend on this game.

I have done every possible thing that could get somebody reset. I have even turned my xbox off during a loading screen and I have still never been reset.

To be honest this is one of the situations where having access to a 'transfer' device can come in handy.

You can just move your save over to you PC and keep a backup there.

You can't always help it. Things such as disconnections have been known to set it off. The important thing is creating a daily backup so you can revert if things do go wrong. What this thread does is helps put us in the know. And knowing is half the battle.

But yes this thread does put us in the know, and knowing is indeed half the battle. The other half is just backing up the data, then you're pretty much safe if for any reason this problem does occur for you.

If you are concerned about it, a back up doesn't hurt. It's a rare problem though, so don't feel it's completely necessary , but again it doesn't hurt if you are worried this may happen

Well you know what they say about playing with fire. Not sure why you are actively finding a way to corrupt your own data, to each his/her own I suppose.

However as I am a new dashboard user, will the cloud service be the other alternative to backing up your data? I'm not using it as I'm unsure what it actually entails. Has anybody else used the cloud service?

I used a 2GB USB stick , so 4GB is fine. Even a 1GB should be enough to become compatible with the 360 as a storage device, but it does need like 500MB to be reserved for some reason or other

No you have to configure the device through the 360, to become a 360 storage device. If that can't be done the console won't let you store anything on it.

Plug the usb drive into your xbox 360, then go to System Settings, Memory, and you should see the USB stick come up as well as your HDD. Select it from there and the 360 will go through the steps of making it compatible to become a 360 storage device
