Yes, you need to have a background or something to tie it together.

I am in NO way dissing your tattoo, but it looks broken or incomplete and to me that is not what a tattoo should be....complete the thought and if you have a guy that does the work for you maybe bring him some material to work with and see what he can come up with. Some of them are great artist. Actually most are.

I think you should add to it by getting a decent artist to go over the whole thing. No offence (have a not so good tat too) but it doesn't look very professional.

Love the dedication in getting this put on your body but i agree with the fact it doesnt look professional. The gears are evenly separates. The gears themselves are shaped disportionally, and the skull in the middle is off. Putting some filling in will definately make it look better.

But all that matters in the end is if you like it
