    Smile OverRule WIP (postphoned)

    Hello all, I knew some of you would be wondering when this would pop up!

    I've tried recording a video but xfire doesn't want to work at all with gears.

    So instead, I've done the next best thing, uploading my WIP which you can find here:

    For now it's just a simple level, however, you will be able to choose a few characters here and there for each team, basically the first 5, hehe.

    Again, this is a WIP, it's far from full release, but I felt it'd be a nice treat for those who've stuck around to encourage us modders!

    Yep spawn system is working, took a while to figure out each set object had to have its own individual variable node, but now with that outta the way, things are looking good!

    Thanks darksin, I know with your connection not being great I tried to keep the file size down, plus there isn't quite so much to do on the map, it is the level I have been using to create this mod, lol!

    Feel free to point out bugs as well guys, I was just so happy to solve the spawn system problem I had to upload it, haha!

    Nice, now I think it's time to transfer what you currently have to a "test subject" level. This way you will know how your mod plays out on a full scale map and makes it easier to tweak in the long run

    Not yet, although we're getting close now, the big problem is the OverRule_S map is like 60 mb, lol, but that sure saves on download in the long run!

    Well maps compress well with RAR and 7z for sure. I got war machine to like 9mb, hehe!

    Yeah, I keep using the damn default send to compressed folder, hehe!

    Anyways, I have just uploaded an update, I recommend redownloading everything as it becomes available later on. (Seriously, the stuff besides the actual changes is like 18 mb)

    Ah, ZIP. ZIP compression is useless, my son. :P

    As for these changes automatic updates and such will be useful later on for this. Server-side changes = awesome! :P

    Good work, respawn system is great, if no screen red, just revive up maybe better?...or make a red skull instead of red screen?

    I really don't know what this red screen you guys keep talking about is, lol!

    I realized today that I hadn't made the spawn system correctly for cog and locust, although if you play as lambent it's fine.

    However I have now uploaded the new version, hehe!

    The color of screen when you are downed.

    EDIT:I personally think using the red skull that appears when you die, for when you downed is a bad idea, no offense to darksin, maybe it could be something else ...

    But red screen is no big deal, being able to revive and bot revive is good enough, it your call though.

    Ah, hes cooked it. Behold the world of buggy maps when cooking! Reset your video settings to default, load up map again, quit, crank up your vid settings again, launch map, hope that it works.

    Yeah, when you down, the screen turn to red, , i hope when character down, the screen is still normal, maybe a red little skull on the above to show you are down,

    then when you revive, the skull gone, game continue, thanks to JUGGER again, great work,

    maybe bot can help you revive, sth like that in future?

    Impossible, we modders can't alter that... not without severe trial and error anyways, I don't plan to create an altered HUD archetype to replace the players lol.

    Uhhh, that could happen, although with the dbno effects, there's not much of a point.

    Well, that is actually possible to get bots to revive you, but considering you get up after 5 seconds, there's not much of a reason to do that. As for warzone, you don't go dbno, you just die, like insane mode in gears 3, haha!

    Nice, but can bots revive other bots? when they are down, waiting and hanging there?

    Anyway if all bots can revive themselves like players, then no need...if they can't ,maybe other bots can help?

    Have you played with execution rules yet?

    Because the bots are under the same rules as the player.

    So yes, bots can revive other bots, but yeah, there's no need because they can revive themselves

    That's the plan, although I'm really enjoying doing things for the machinima Out of Service. It'll be a bit of a balancing act to decide between what (considering I plan to pull off my greatest machinima idea) but I do plan to get everything good to go by that day.

    OK, so how about maps, i think the model part no probelm , 3 factions battle TDM maps, so maybe some UI to choose what each faction models or random?......

    Well, the models are going to be no problem, except for the whole mirror issue in cover, considering I just don't see CowBoyLocust getting all that done for every single model and I'm sure as hell not going to even attempt that.

    A damn shame about the models.... there's always something that crashes da party...


    But getting to the point
    Seriously, I want to pick the 14 other characters for the bots to play as.
    It could be both, random and choose em, extra customizable options never hurt to have around.

    But if you could prevent multiple occurrences of each character skin spawning, that is ok, not as good as picking the 14 other characters for the bots to play as., but its your mod...

    Maybe some feature form UT character choose, actually i always hope Epic make Gears Tournament, so all can be custimized, and custom bot ,maps stable support..lol.....

    Uhhhh, no, modular pawns are not supported in gears, swapping heads and body parts is not going to happen... yeah, custom bots/maps are important... hence all these mods.

    Indeed it is, either way the mod will be awesome, I do not plan to add functionality for you to select each one for every player on the battlefield but...

    Whew, I've been too busy, you all probably know I've teamed up with George from Out of Gears to make special effects in UDK for their Out of Service Season 2 machinima series. I've even stopped work on my OverRule mod because not only is it such a relief trying out unreal script, but having a stable editor . It's a tough choice, but I think it's better to work on machinima right now and forget about this OverRule mod. It's a bit of a shame not being able to add all the characters to it and port more maps... but what I've been working on is a far bigger deal!

    I suppose it's for the greater good. Why stay with an out of date editor for a game that is dead as a dodo? (Let's face it, it is) when you could move onto bigger & better things with UDK
    UnrealScript is something I plan on learning also so I will be taking a proper look at UDK soon enough

    Ah, seems a tough choice, Horde 2.0 mod goes slowly as well...Anyway recently a lot of new games out, TES, saintraw, NFS, busy game life...

    Quality may be busy working on the project and never got round to giving a status update as of yet. Yeah lots and lots of games out this year damn, Gears 3 keeping me hooked :d but I still work on my mod in editor and that will be supported no matter what basically.

    Anyways Juggernut has had alot on his plate recently. With that machinima mumbo jumbo, his mod, work, his cravings for Resident Evil and unfortunately he is not a woman so we lack the multitasking ability
