I've only just noticed this, i hang out in the main sections. I will attempt to do a last minute story, i find i write better when under pressure! I'm pretty rusty though, i haven't written anything in 10 years!

I think I want to flesh out these stories a little more. I'll go with War-Crimes.

War Crimes:

An action carried out during the conduct of a war that violates accepted international rules of war.

What this basically means is that an act that, even in times of war, is seen as repulsive, inexcusable and intolerable. For those of you less in touch with international laws situated with war, that means things like using biological weapons, poisonous gas, napalm, committing genocide, torture and crimes against humanity - are all not allowed in war. War has 'rules' agreed on by every nation of this world and you are tried if you break them. Politics aside...

You are free to do as you please. While this may seem like it makes it harder for you to write your stories, it doesn't. While most of you may opt to write about Indies vs the COG in regards to the topic, you can still go with the Locust if you desire. Remember, the Locust did take prisoners and did torture, kill and use them as slave labour. Feel free to think outside of the box and hopefully, more of you are willing to take part rather than DJ (who I thank for actually taking part lol) and I.

Green, a few tips for next month, since you can't go back and edit this month.

1. You have all month to write this. I recommend using as much time as you can to write, refine, and format.

2. Walls of text are never fun to read.

3. Spell check and basic grammar are your friend, if you don't already use them, learn how to.

I haven't read your entry yet, but the way it's formatted is already giving me a headache. Take your time next month and make sure your story looks as pretty as it reads. Image counts for a lot.

Yup, no problem. Just future reference. You're already high up on my admiration list simply because you know the proper way to communicate with people, even over the Internet. Capitalization is wonderful.

Gotta put some meat on my story. Already got the bones laid out.

Take your time, you've got all month. Once you're done, start combing through it for spelling errors. You can even get someone else to read through if they're not in the competition to spot any mistakes you miss. Discuss your story with someone, make sure it's interesting. Polish it until it shines. -Then- post it.

You say it's your first time. It's fine, I'll wrestle through it when I read and review. Gods knows you're not the first person to do this, nor will you be the last, unfortunately. I can also give you some advice and such at the end of the month if you'd like.

Anyhoo, I've given this some thought and decided to pass, unless of course some kind of inspirational epiphany happens, but that seems pretty unlikely. War Crimes in Gears is a hard topic to deal with. The Locust are monsters, thereby unlikely to abide by the established rules of war. And being monsters, any act against them cannot be considered a wartime atrocity given their non human nature. So yeah, can't really get my head around this. I dunno maybe I'm being too pedantic in my approach and not "thinking outside the box", but it is what it is.

Good luck to those that do enter though, I'm interested to see exactly how you tackle the subject.

Lol, I'm not entirely sure.

Not really all that comfortable with the idea of judging people seriously, not when judging frivolously is so much more fun!

Let me think it over for a day or two. What about Sarge? Is he judging too?

I dunno. He hasn't really gotten with me about it. If he does, though, that'd make three judges - exactly what I wanted when I started this thing up. That way, writers get more opinions on their works and the scores probably won't be tied.
