Installing Game to HD major problem. [Minor Spoilers only Act one]

Map Name: Campaign Act 1, playing as cole just after the stadium when you get onto the bridge.
Game Type: ^^^^
Location (where in the Level, where in the menus, etc.): just as i hit the bridge from the cable jump, or if it doesnt freeze, the cut scene doesnt load after killing enemies.
Were you in a Party?: no
If so, how many were in your party?:
How did you join? (invite, join button in party panel, blade, etc.: title screen
How did you leave?: dashboard/menu
Ranked or Public or Both?: N/A
Was this in your first match or after transition?: N/A
What was happening right before the issue occurred?: What is your NAT type?: Open

So i decided to install Gears to my HD, and as soon as i loaded up i noticed the loading times seemed to double, and when I went onto campaign it wouldnt load the next area, so i was stuck on the bridge after the lift and cable thingy with cole.

So i ended up being stuck in this area because the next cut scene wouldnt activate.

i restarted campaign and ran into the same problem same place.

I restarted xbox, and this time it froze after the cable jump.

I left campaign alone and played with some friends, loading times were still ver long, but got into private hoard, when we got bored we went online, the loading never stopped, i ended up having to dashboard the game after 5 min of loading while my friends were already playing.

I Uninstalled the game and all these problems went away instantly.

Any idea whats going on here?

My FIRST suspect in this situation is that your 360 hard drive is dying.

It could also be the DVD-ROM drive failing too.

..and age, unfortunately, has nothing to do with it

I liken computer parts to cars...

They can break at any moment.
