Remove/Edit the Vengeful (Nemesis) Medal - It is being Toned down

So I was reading through this thread

And to get the Nemesis Medal you need to Execute your Nemesis 75 times. Now that's just the Bronze one I think.

The problem is, to actually get a Nemisis it requires you to LOSE. You have to be killed 3 times by the same person for them to become your nemesis AND then Execute them. I don't get it. Seriously 3.0 now requires us to get killed.

Swift Vengance - The Swift Veng medal requires you to kill your last enemy, this would be more suitable.

After over 100 matches, I was just playing KOTH and finally got a Nemesis. I ended up sucking more because I kept trying to down him instead of gibbing him. Then I accidently gibbed him, and the Nemesis icon vanished :x

Just tested it in a private match. Heres what i found out:

1. It is indeed 5 times
2. It has to be in a row. If someone kills you 4 times, and then you kill him just once, the counter will reset.
3. If someone kills you 5 times and becomes your nemesis, and then you kill him 1 time (without executing him), he will no longer be your nemesis, and you lose the opportunity to get a point for the medal.

So yeah, the medal is stupid.

So if you kill him, he's no longer your Nemesis, which makes it even more retarded.

3 Times is a bit too much and I assume you could only really get this in re-spawn game types such as King of the hill, Which is something I doubt I will play.

People will boost it but it will take ages and it's a pointless task cause I don't like losing never mind dying 3 times to the same scrub.

Nemisis could have something better attached to it.

It's a bit stuPid. I think the only time this happens is in king of the hill. I think that's the only time I got a point towards it. Just if you see the crossed sword icon make sure you execute them.

I'm not too bothered about it and I'm sure those that are will boost to get it

At the very least, at least make multiple executions count! Like I said in another thread, even if you execute your nemesis 10 times in a match, the game registers it as only 1.

Is it "Get killed three times in a match by the same person and then execute them"? Or is it "Get killed three times in a row by the same person and then execute them"? There's a difference. I'm sure I must have died by the same person three times during the beta in a TDM and went on to kill them. If its three times in a row, well, that's a bit ridiculous. If its in a row I don't see myself getting this any time soon.

Any person claiming they've never died by the same person three times in a match is kidding themselves. I've played against really good people in Gears 1 and 2 as well as Hosts who have killed me three times and I end up killing them a couple times during the match.

I thought it was 5 times in a row? If that's the case then you would have to die a minimum of 2,500 times to Onyx this medal. And for people that don't die a lot, to get this you actually have to let people kill you which is pretty stupid. This should've been a ribbon, not a medal.

This medal is ridiculous. I just noticed yesterday of how big a problem it creates for those going for seriously 3.0....... I have played over 100 games and I haven't had one nemesis. This is something that NEEDS to be fixed.

I agree I don't think I have had a nemesis yet in the game, and if I do on occasion finding him and executing him without killing him first would be very annoying to do 75 times, let alone however many for onyx.

So what? Getting VG and Seriously in Gears 2 were also ridiculous, but we got those didn't we? It's just another challenge to be faced and conquered. And yes, while playing CTL and KOTH I got plenty of Nemeses although I didn't actively hunt them since I was focused on the objective. It's honestly not that difficult, just time consuming, as most of the Onyx medals are. Seriously 3.0 here I come.

Getting X amount of kills and exp is just a matter of time, you can literally play forever and never get this thing, shouldn't HAVE to die to get a medal

I really really hate this medal and it's hard to explain why without sounding selfish. Like..."Because I'll never get it" isn't a good enough reason to get rid of it, in my opinion, and neither is "it's too hard." Personally one thing I love about Gears is that there are some really really difficult achievements out there. Say what you want about grinding Seriously 2.0 but I did very limited grinding (maybe 5K-8K over the course of my first 100K kills) so it felt REALLY good when I finally got there. I love that about Gears.

But this medal just seems to present difficulty in an arbitrary way. I think it would be a cool RIBBON, but not a medal. For example there was one ribbon in the beta (not sure if it's in retail, I haven't checked) called...I think it was Trick Shot, which you got for getting a torque bow headshot and had the arrow kill another player. That's a super awesome thing to do and it's cool to have a ribbon for it, but if there was a medal for it, that would just be outrageous...but really only in the sense that medals are tied to achievements. Otherwise (like in the case of the ribbon) I wouldn't mind.

And it's not even about how I feel about getting Seriously 3.0. One of the medals is for playing however many games of Wingman. I HATE Wingman and I'm not sure I'm going to play it enough to get the achievement. And that's fine, that's my choice. But I at least have the opportunity to get it...which is the problem with the nemesis medal...it just happens so rarely. I didn't have this happen once throughout the entire beta and I haven't had it happen yet in the retail. And honestly, I don't think I've even HAD a nemesis in the retail...actually check that, I probably have, but I don't remember having one, so at most it happens rarely. Point being...as evidenced by my numbers and the complete lack of frequency with which i advance this medal, it's clear that there are just not enough opportunities to level this medal up to onyx.

So...I vote that it gets removed. It's too much.

Congratulations on being such a badass that you never die. It's supposed to be gotten IF you get a Nemesis, not that you're actively trying to get killed and then get the medal.

VG and Seriously did not require you to actually lose. This Medal is asking you to get killed 3 times by someone and then execute them. No thanks.
