How come you can't talk to players on the other team?

This seems very strange to me. I played a private wingman match earlier. Once the map had loaded you can't talk to the other players at all,even when you're dead.
Why is this? I can understand in public games as you get a lot of dochebags that smack talk but it's annoying not being able to talk to your friends in a private match.

In Gears 1 you could talk to the other team only if you were dead. ALL dead ppl could talk. And everyone could talk between rounds. It made for some pretty good smack talk.. and everytime a round ended everyone would go.. OOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!! U SEE THAT !?!?!?? Why epic... why u take it out.. :/

No it isn't. Play Wingman. if you are dead you can only talk to your wingman,not other dead people. You can only talk to them when the match is over.

There is no other gametype in Gears 3 where you can talk across team boundaries when you are dead. You can only hear the other team when the match is over.

Why has this been taken out of the game? You could do it in Gears 1&2. It's very boring if you're dead and your team isn't so you've got nobody to talk to.
