No CTL is good enough for me but its only fun when you are playing with a team of freinds and not bunch of randoms because chances are the leader thinks hes a pro and rushes in and gets captured.

I am a long time Halo fanatic, and my absolute favorite gametype in every game is multiflag. I would add, though, that I think it has bigger implications than just providing the CTF fans with their favorite objective option. In fact, I think it would do something for the game that no objective gametype currently does for CTF: stretch the goddamn field of battle. TDM is a bit formulaic, in the sense that everyone storms the power weapons off spawn. The rest of the game is spent either camping the PWs if you were successful, or trying to breach if you were not. KOTH varies the locus of the battle, but does so systematically and winds up being a cluster****. In CTF, you can't simply stand on the boardwalk with longshot the whole game if you want to be effective, because a lot of the fight will be taking place elsewhere.
With that said, the maps are not even close to ideal for CTF. I agree with the earlier poster that said squarish design would be an issue, but it is much more than that. Gears spawns (the natural flag bases in any CTF) are not diametrically opposed, which might render an entire portion of a map useless On top of that, some spawn points are designed to feed respawns out safely, but not in such a way as to be effectively defended. I think the Gears style of play is best suited to larger (e.g., 8-on-8) CTF matches, played on slightly larger maps, and possibly incorporating the 2-flag slayer innovation from Reach.
But done right, how could I possibly vote against this? I'm definitely for it.
CTF would be sick as hell in Gears. And for those bringing up CTL, CTL plays NOTHING like CTF.
CTL is causing me too much pain to play and I'm totally for this gametype. We just need to find a way to balance the maps. Once a team starts spawn camping then it'll be easy for the team that is getting screwed to just wait out the spawn switch.
I don't really care for the idea. One of the things I love about Gears is it's unique take on different game types. I don't want the same game types I see everywhere else.

Capture the flag might be nice but I want assassination from gears 1 I think it was renamed to guardian in 2

A proper Capture the Flag game mode would be pretty good. None of this "Capture the Leader" or Meat Flag businees. To rags on a pole is good enough! I just think that if you reduced the running speed too much with the flag, your opponents would be able to easily catch up to you - particularly if they've just respawned.
I also like the idea of an Assault Game mode, too.

I 100% support this. CTF is awesome in every FPS I have played it on. Gears of war 3 is awesome. What's missing here? CTF mode on Gears 3. Bring it plox.

CTF is a good idea but i'm sure Epic has already thought this through and you have to look at other problems with make a CTF gametype. Gears unlike other games with CTF (mainly COD or BF) is very omni-dimensional in the way that your feet literally never leave the ground of the map, unlike in other games where you have elevation and speed boosters this game doesn't have the same elements that are in other shooter games. Although this sounds like a good idea to have a CTF game mode, it would only bring out more complainers and protesters than even the SOS has brought out.

Speed in this game would mean flag captures in under 5 seconds. Submission would be better.

i gotta admit, this would be fun, only quarrel i have is i don't think the maps are quite big enough for a true CTF experience, idk though just my opinion.
The point I keep trying to make is, it's obvious that play testing would need to be done to balance the mode. People posting no need to stop just imagining the TDM game mechanics with a flag thrown on the map. Obvious changes would need to be made.

Very nicely written Porshapwr. I believe this could totally work for gears. I definitely could see some epic team battles going on in a CTF gametype. Ranked matches would be crazy! Two 5 man teams strategically playing a CTF match in gears of war would be nothing but epic.
I also agree with all the suggestions. Don't know about the melee rang for the lag though. How big would it be and how big of a swing radius would it have? Bigger/smaller then the longshot?
also having locust and cog having different execution with the flag would be a nice touch. Maybe the cog stick the pole in the back slamming them down and then crub stomping them??
and the locust could maybe do the same thing but a little more intensely. maybe instead of slaming the cog to the ground the pole goes through him leaving the cog in the downed position and the locust either kicks the head off or pulles the head off like some mortal kombat finishing move!?!?!?!
