Progression to Next Fortification Level stats must only be for those with the Horde Command Pack DLC?
If I look on my stats & Awards for horde I have zero for all my To Next stats, so I'm topped out by the looks of things ?
Barrier Level 8
Decoy Level 7
Sentry Level 6
Turret Level 8
Silverback Level 2
Italics from the first page.
Supply Drops Contain:
Crate 1: 1x Vulcan
Crate 2: 2x Mulcher, 1x Boom Shield
Crate 3: 5x Boomshot
Crate 4: 1x Longshot, 1x Torque Bow
Crate 5: 1x Lancer, 1x Retro Lancer, 1x One Shot, 1x Wild Ticker(Contains 1x Ammo Clip, +175 Points, and $175 Cash)
Crate 6: 2x Ammo Clip, and Ammo Replenishes For the Whole Team
Do they actually come in this order or expected order? I like the boomshots the best and normally get mullered trying to use the Vulcan. I often don't get the crates playing solo, expt the turret ones. I have enough on my plate trying to survive.
Also this:
9. Once a Kantus dies it explodes in a cloud of ink. This ink can harm you. If you instagib one, no ink is released.
So....level 51? What is up with that? Me and my friend just beat horde and it went to 51. We were very confused. Because we were so drained we didn't continue on after beating 51.
Some games are glitched and you will go past 50. I've heard it go as high as 57.
Also, KillZone I don't know if it should go in, but you might want to say something about the RAAM's Gift easter egg on Bullet Marsh. Here's the video of it :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHFwoCzPJsc

Oh and if anyone has any questions feel free to ask or if there is anything that you would like me to add to the thread then just post a comment and I'll see what I can do.
Has anyone put together a guide to score guide factoring in mutators?
Something like this...This uses a base of 1000 points just because it is a nice round number...I know other factors go into score like number of players, etc...
1000 x 2.5 (2.500) x -50% = 1,250 (Insane with Infinite and Super Reload)
1000 x 1.5 (1,500) x 0 = 1,500 (Normal)
1000 x 2.5 (2,500) x -40% = 1,500 (Insane with Infinite/Super and No Ammo)
1000 x 1.5 (1,500) x 30% = 1,950 (Normal with 3 Hard Mutators)
1000 x 2.5 (2,500) x -5% = 2,425 (Insane with Super Reload, Must Active and Enemy Regen)
1000 x 2.5 (2,500) x 30% = 3,250 (Insane with 3 Hard Mutators)

Thank you for the reply! Sorry, I mis-typed, I meant surviving players factors inI was Just thinking about what you would need to put together for a run at the top of the leaderboards (I assume max number of players (5) the entire time, Insane difficulty, manageable mutators, etc...). If anyone wants to start a thread on that or add it to this incredible thread of information, I am all for it.

LOL, I was thinking of something a little more in-depth. If my calculations are correct, then Insane with two "easy" mutators will earn you less than simply playing on Normal with no mutators, something I do not think most people realize. I was just wondering if someone had done all the calculations and i had simply missed it.
You're right. Insane is 120%. 2 -25% (easy) mutators downs it to 70%. ...Normal with no mutators is 100%.
Speaking of Horde, I have a question. I'm trying to go 1-50 splitscreen with an idle controller so I can get the '1-50 waves in one sitting ribbon' and I was wondering if anyone knew which Fenix Rising map would be best. I've been trying Escalation for a while and I have no idea where to set up my CC, and I usually die anyway. (This is Hardcore btw)
In retrospect, I think my problem is that I'm trying to do too many things at once. Level up sliverback, 1-50 in one sitting, fenix rising cheevo, hardcore diff., and +% mutators. I'm going casual with all easy ones! lol.
But yeah. Which fenix map is good for horde, and if it is Escalation, where?
Thanks!![]()
Just started another "All About ..." thread. This time its Beast mode. I'll still be updating this thread but I'll be working more on my newest thread. Check it out Here!

Great info! Really helpfull. Thanks man
Very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for the Advice
Why are you reading this??????
How come that when I spent like 70k on a turret it only registers like 30? Is there a reason for not counting the full 70k towards the level progress.. Is it cause of the difficulty and/or the mutators?
Last edited by IRGIORGIO; 02-22-2012 at 09:22 AM.
Both. How much money goes into your fortification levels all depends on what difficulty and what mutators you have on. If your playing on casual hardly any money is going into your level progression. If you play on insane a lot of money counts towards level progression.
Thanks for the silverback info thats the last one i gotta do.
Great post, I think this is very informative! I'll add a few tips I haven't seen, I don't know if there's a specific thread for it or not.
When it comes to barriers, and fortifications, buy just enough to slow down the enemy. Generally, don't go above the razor wire, past that it gets too expensive to rebuild for not that much benefit. The razor wire slows enemies down enough to be able to take them out. Spending a few extra thousand every round on fortifications that are going to get destroyed adds up, and in all reality it's a pretty minmial difference in how it stops the enemy.
ALWAYS have enough to buy back in, especially if you are trying for a points run. If you have bought back in, be careful, because you can only buy in once per round. You get more points for keeping all teammates alive. And if you are playing for points, always buy in. If you don't have money,, tell your team and make sure you all have enough.
To be succesful in horde, you must work as a team. If you have even the most basic strategy, you will do significantly better. Your best bet is to have each teammate cover a certain area, and stay there and focus on that area. If someone starts to get overrun and needs help, they can easily communicate this. If someone isn't seeing much activity, they can help the other teammate. Staying in cover on harder difficulties or rounds is the # 2 rule (#1 - always have buy in) because on insane, at higher levels, you just die without any indication. You're playing along, and bam, red screen, and you don't even know what the hell happened. Blind fire is your best friend, get used to aiming. Your character shoots at the center of the screen, always. It's not possible to shoot anywhere else. So with some practice, you can get used to effective and accurate blind fire, which severely limits the amount of damage you can take. Also be aware of your position in cover. Ideally, you want cover where you can at least move left to right, and a better cover is an area where you can get totally out of the way. At higher levels, boomers are accurate enough to splash damage and kill you behind cover, so you want to make sure you have an easy out, or can at least move to the side. When it's just a boomer, it's pretty easy to avoid a boomshot, but when he is behind a mauler and a few grinders, your cover better be legit or you are going to die.
If you have an idea, let it out. Sometimes basic strategies are the difference between losing and winning. Example, I was playing with some guys from the forums the other day, for the first time. We were on wave 50, and had a hard time beating the last wave. So a simple idea, like taking out a few locust, running to a new area that's not over-run, take out more, and keeping moving kept us from getting over-whelmed, and we beat the wave easily, even though we had tried unsuccesfully a few times. I believe we all survived the wave, and just a few minutes earlier it seemed like we wouldn't be able to do it. Communicating is huge, and even the most basic idea can help your team out, while saying nothing and not trying to work out a plan is probably going to result in your death. So, if you have an idea, don't be afraid to speak up.
Rambo has no place in competitive horde. Hold your cover, speak up if you need help, and help others when you can. Team play means sharing... If you have $30,000, and a teammate doesn't have buy in, and dies, you should both kick yourself in the buttox. If you have extra, speak up, someone may need it, or you can do some upgrades while someone else doesn't that wave. If someone runs out of ammo, and you have plenty, give some of yours so you can all fight. Someone without ammo isn't going to be effective, and good luck trying to take out big locusts on higher waves with your snub pistol. Between rounds, if you need ammo, run out and get them, there is usually a surpluss of hb, and gorgon/boltok ammo for the taking, along with various power weapons. I use a lancer, but I always have a fully loaded hb, and a fully loaded boltok or gorgon at the ready for those rounds where you are running low on ammo, and can't get out of cover without dying. If you look around a bit, and if you remember where you killed certain enemies (or your teammates can remember) you can pretty effectively keep full of ammo without having to spend money on ammo boxes.
Spot, spot, spot. You should be spotting every enemy you can, to let your teammates know where enemies are approaching from, and it give a much easier target to focus on, especially on the darker maps, or maps with lots of cover. Plus, you get money and points for spotting. If you are on a map where you need someone behind you to prevent spawn, they may not have a good position to be killing too many enemies. But, you can still maintain a pretty good amount of cash by simply spotting your enemies so your closer teammates can take them out more effectively. This goes back to being a team game, remember, you all get the same score regardless of how many people you actually shoot.
If you don't NEED the challenge ammo boxes, leave them. If you have a good team, you may never need to open them. But nothing burns me up more than playing with randoms of various skill levels, and they open all of the boxes on wave 4... Then, we die on the boss round and everyone quits. Saving those ammo boxes for when you need them can make all the difference, and you defintely don't need them on wave 4.
Communicate, and think smart. If there are command centers, don't blow them off just for the sake of using them, and if it's not yours, stay away unless the round depends on it, or someone asks you to set it off. There's nothing worse than spending your hard earned money to have someone blow off a hammer strike at the worst time, and they kill 1 ticker. There's good times to blow them off, and bad times. If you created the command centers, don't be selfish. If you have teammates that are closer than you, don't risk dying to get a few extra kills, ask one of them to set it off, and stay safe in your cover. It's much smarter, and more effective (not to mention gives you some breathing room) when you have big locust coming your way, as opposed to just pushing the button, hoping for the best, and killing a few drones and tickers. A command post is not the way to get easy money, when someone else spent thousands upgrading it.
I'd say you have covered everything, sweet! Thanks for the time and effort, it is very much appreciated.
(copy&pasted from the other Horde thread)
After playing a lot of Horde lately, I have come to the conclusion that Old Town is the best map by far. You have 1 side elevated first of all, which means you can ALWAYS shoot down at the Locusts. I has 1 very large open area in the middle (by nades) where a lot of the Horde group up. But most importantly, it has every pickup weapon in the game on this map (except for heavies, which aren't too great anyway). Torque Bow is IMO the best weapon for Horde since it can OHK nearly anything with a head, plus you have Boom, Frags, Incids, Scorchers, and snipe. No other map has all the weapons, meaning you have to pick them up from dead enemies. It also has good choke points with tons of fortifications in just the right spots, and you have plenty of places up top to cover down low. Lastly, the map has only 2 dead ends at the spawns, so as long as you never run into the spawns you can always stay moving (for the Beserkers and such).
Some might say Overpass or Escalation is better, but they lack weapons in key points (namely the best spots to set up your base) and have many dead ends, plus the areas you cover are rather small meaning the Horde can get too close for comfort (as opposed to Old Town where you can literally cover the entire bottom of the map at once).
