    Default Gears of War books?

I'm now interested in reading the Gears of War books, I looked it up on Amazon and found these.

    Aspho Fields
    Jacintos Remnants
    Coalitions End
    Anvil Gate

Can someone please tell me what order to read these in and if there are any more i need to look for?

I have the first book I got about 2 years go I never did finished it I was thinking of finished it and getting the other books. Is it worth it. I like the story so far is Astro Fields. One question I have is do any of the books tie into the games, so any of the later books spoil the ending of GoW3, or any of the books bases after GoW3?

Coalitions End was the best so far in my opinion, I enjoyed reading it and didn't want it to end. I didn't know about "the slab", I am now looking forward to that!

To save making a new thread... I bought books 2, 3 and 4 and have them now, but I can't find 4 ANYWHERE. Out of stock online on every site I can think of checking. Checked out a book store the other day and they only had the most recent one.

Would I miss anything significant if I skipped out on the first book for now? I mean how closely do they follow one another? Ideally I'd like to read them in order but I can't get my hands on 1.

The PRESENT in the first book is between Gears 1 and 2. Nothing major there except for the introduction of a new character that is in the rest of the books.

The PAST in the first book really hammers home just how important the relationship between Marcus and Dom is. It also sets up some of the characters constantly being referenced.

It certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if you didn't read book 1 first.

I think if I were to start with book 2 I'd immediately be jumping into the aftermath of Gears 2 (which is what I was most wanting to experience in the books) and I'd be confused by how 'familiar' some characters are treated. If I read book 1 later it'd be like reading the comics after the books.. getting more insight into things, but nothing that really sets the 'current events' tone.

Still.. do your best to get book 1. It was a good read

    Hope that helps!

If it wasn't for the books.. I wouldn't be as excited about Gears 3.

Here's hoping I get all my answers

Me either, it really helped answer small backstory questions I had.
