Can't truly "uninstall"...how to reinstall my game?

For the past serveral weeks I've been consistantly getting the duplicate login error. Almost like clockwork, though not always, I'll get the error after entering or spcing a game after around 2 mins or so. Every once in a while I can stay longer.

So I purchased the game again on Steam (after uninstalling my original from dvd), hoping that perhaps the ini tweaks I made a long time ago would be reset (if they had anything to do with it) and perhaps I could at least play again, yet when I installed the game all my old settings were back.

Now, I KNOW I've seen somewhere on this site people talking about how there's a phantom(?) copy of ut3 stored on your pc...or something? Could anyone perhaps direct me to that thread or, if it's an easy answer, tell me how to FULLY get rid of ut3 so I can do a fresh install?

Or...if there's a fix to the duplicate login error, I spose that would work too.

Delete the Unreal Tournament 3 directory that gets created under My Documents\My Games or whatever the Windows Vista/7 equivalent folder is.

Then reinstall your game.

Any chance you or anyone knows what causes the dup login error? I'd actually prefere to save my settings if there's a fix...

Well, the Duplicate Login Error can happen when you have a short interruption with your internet connection. It's too short to notice, however, you "reconnect" with the server, the server thinks you're still on it, checks the account name, notices it's the same as on the server and kicks you until it automatically disconnects you after a while (time-out).

However, there are other reasons as well. To 75% it's still a mystery.

Ya know, now that I think about it, it started when I changed to a new router with wifi (yes, I'm THAT behind the times). Guess I'll try my old router before I get all midi-evil on my game

The DLE can be very annoying if it occurs several times in a row on a single day (which happened to me once, I have a lose contact in my cable, guess I should exchange it sometime soon)

you can't truly uninstall your game.

some information is saved by gamespy, clan tags and some other small user profile settings is saved remotely, somewhere, or in a very obscure folder.
