First off, thank you everyone for your kind words. I feel all warm and glowy. Perfect end to an already epic night. Icing on the cheesecake, even.

Now, to answer your question, Adam, I went back to Jacinto's Remnant, bit only once because I couldn't remember Massey's name. Everything else I just kind of threw together. It actually turned out different from what I had envisioned in the beginning. It was going to end with her getting a knife out of a pillow and flaying a few before Massey got away on the boat, but my characters here did what they always do and surprise me with something; in this case, the plastic ties.

After that point, I just let the story flow where it may. It was supposed to have gone on longer, too, but I got tired of writing the night I posted it. Seemed like a good place to stop, anyway.
