    Default To Epic/PCF: Detecting hackers.

    Hi there.

I would like to know (i think whole community would like to) if there's a way of detecting hackers on the leaderboard. I mean, if somebody hack a score that is possible to get without hacks.

Of course i don't want to accuse anybody of hacking but it would be good to know that all scores on leaderboard are 100% legit.

I hope somebody from Epic or PCF will reply to this thread

If there is something dodgy happening on the leaderboards, i'm sure it will soon be sorted. So far PCF (or whoever is responsible for the leaderboards on the xbox 360 version) have done a great job.
When the first glitched score of over 2 billion appeared there were a couple of more convincing looking (but impossible to achieve) scores also on the leaderboards and they were removed within a week or so. Since then there have been other glitched scores appear and the were removed almost overnight. Lets hope they keep up the good work as Echoes would probably lose it's hardcore community like Horde did on Gears2 with hacked leaderboards.

I think that is why he was asking if they have some way of telling apart from the actual score. What if a hacked score was achievable technically on a level would they be able to tell.

exactly. Epic/PCF did a really good job on PS3 too but i'm just curious what if there will be a hacker who is smarter than the others and he will just "do" the score that is theoretically achievable. Is there any way of detecting this kind of hacks?

I posted this topic because i doubt there is a way. When i won this demo tournament i had to bring my PS3 to PCF studios, probably because they don't see which score is legit and which isn't so they had to check my console software.

I don't think we will get an official response

I'm pretty sure the answer to this one is no. We could potentially have legit looking hacked scores and there is no way for them to know. This was the main reason for my max score thread. If someone gets over 18k on desert its likely a hacker.

For me. For a run to be 100% legit from anyone including myself, I would have to see a vid of it. I hope they release a title update to fix the core issue at some point.

As Rattle said they did a good job of removing the obvious hackers and also the ones that were a little odd. I can remember a 360 player by the name of StAuch3r and I think I even posted about him on here much earlier because he had sone believable insane highscores but in some echos he had medicore ones. When they first filtered the boards he was gone so I think on some level they can tell but you only gave to look on YouTube to see the level of sophisticated software made available for people to post scores as easy as sending an email.
