I have the same exact problem. Can't get past it, any help would be much appreciated. Limited Edition version of the game.

Phenom II x4
4gb ram

Updated my DirectX using the Directx setup file inside the CD-ROM, and attempting to get it installed....

I feel sorry for the PC users most of the time getting the short end with games :/

If you like FPS games, well.. Then you can look forward to Battlefield 3 and BRINK, as they probably wont be these ''ports'', and I think there is some extra thing for PC Battlefield.. Think it was increased amount of players/match, something around 64 (max)

I don't know if this is the right forum to post it in even, but yeah.. Felt like I could put it out somewhere

I have been to support with ea 3 times today.I have shut off firewall,virus protection,all running programs,uninstalled net.frame,and everything else we could think of.This is first game I can't install on pc/laptop.

I have resolved the issue. There were some "important" and "optional" updates in Windows 7 update area... Here are the ones I updated before installing it successfully:

Microsoft SQL which was under optional
Numerous "Security" updates
A couple of NET Framework updates.

Best of luck, and am very glad I was able to figure it out and report back here.

I have checked update for net.framework.Even removed them with tool and reinstalled them along with everything else.Even did clean boot to try i and still not working.Contacted Ea and tried few more things and now waiting on Ea to e-mail me back with something else to try.As i sent them my pc info so they could look at that.

I also have the same issue, bought the game from Gamestop plopped the DVD in and after waiting for 40 minutes the install errors out with files that are not accessable.

I am curious if stonefly has the same entries in his eventvwr that I do: I see badblocks on the disc. I verified that the disc is in pristine condition.. I see somewhere between 20 and 50 errors stating that there are bad blocks, when i tried to manually Copypasta the files off the disc it looks like media3.cab file is broken, not sure if that is some type of DRM or not though.

Unfortunately Gamestop will only trade in for same game and EA didn't seem to have anyway for me to direct download the game, instead they want me to send them the manual and receipt.. which is fine if i didn't want to play this week, but well I do.

I've done all updates to vista with none helping.Was told EA's seniors would look into it and get back with me on a fix.I have even wiped netframe out and reinstalled those files with no help.done a clean boot,deleted temp files,shut off firewall and antivirus,and so on to no help.I do have patience,but they are wearing thin at this time. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! I put a crap ton of time into games I play.As you can check my stats to see first hand.Will continue to wait and see what happens next.Guess back to UT3 for now.

want to keep this on top.Still no help. And still can't play game.Wow is all I can say at this point.60 bucks and can't play game.I go to live Ea chat and they said give them a few hours. This was yesterday at 1:00p.m.Still no e-mail back from them.

After 4 days of trying to get game to work and many chat sessions with EA.I am able to play.The very nice lady I chated with got me a online copy to download.And it worked.So now able to play.
