I did a speedtree mesh and i tried to bring it into UDK and this is what happend. Has anyone had the similar problem? Any ideas on what the problem might be??

Well I'm just learning speedtree and ran into a program error myself which is what brought me to your post, but your first problem is that there isn't a texture applied to your mesh. That's what the white and blue checkers means. So seeing as how there's no texture, I'd assume something went wrong during the compile. Hopefully that was somewhat helpful, like I said I'm newer at this than you are.
Inside the speed tree , all textures are applied automatically. Inside UDK YOU must create a material for each texture. Than apply them MANUALLY your self.
So is not a problem, just a step you forgot or did not knew you had to do.
I don't think he's talking about a material issue, look at the middle of the speedtree in the editor the vertices are all fanned out and not like the vines in the speedtree modeler.Inside the speed tree , all textures are applied automatically. I am not seeing that stretching here. What is special about that speedtree?
