Can someone explain the point system?

I understand our high scores are going to be used to upgrade our characters and all, but are these upgrades only for certain modes or for all modes? I keep looking for an answer through google but haven't found a good explanation of this so far. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

The high scores in Echoes go on a leaderboard as you know. They count towards achievements.

Anarchy is confirmed to give XP for upgrades, but that is as far as we know atm. Echoes and Campaign may give XP, and we are not sure which modes upgrades can be used in, but it makes sense that it would be all of them.
