    Map - Capture the Flag (PC/PS3) CTF-Facing Worlds 3

    Name: CTF-Facing Worlds 3
    Version: 1.0
Compatibility: UT3 is required, nothing else.

    Description:
One asteroid, two towers ... Ten thousand headshots.
A conversion of the awesome map from UT2004: Facing Worlds 3.

    Comments:
After lots of hard work, me and HO0815XX managed to convert the awesome map "CTF-Face3" from UT2004 to UT3.
We really worked at this map to make the best of it.
The biggest challenge was the lighting in this map, as the UT3 engine renders lighting much different from the UT2004 engine, and we completely had to rebuild te lighting.
Because this is a 1 on 1 conversion the lighting might look a bit weird one some points, but we cant fix that [for example: cut-off lights/shadow.]
There was also a small discussion about the overall map scale: people thought the UT2004 version was to big for the fast paced gameplay of UT3, but we wanted to keep it a 1 on 1 conversion, so we kept the original scale.

    Installation:
    Extract files to:
    My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\CustomMaps

    Credits:
Coreper (me), HO0815XX, stevelois, NickG, Odedge, Sp4der, thalos, Nawrot, 1XTreme.
And ofcourse Cedric 'Inoxx' Fiorentino and Epic Games for the original UT2004 map.

Want to use the materials I used? It's possible: just copy all the nodes used in my material [not the material itself!] except for the texture samples. You have to add those again to make it work.

    Default Thank you!

Coreper, great job. I've really really wanted to see some of the Egyptian levels brought to UT3. This is the first one I've seen that is good quality.

Are there any others anyone could recommend?

    Great job.

    LOL! Indeed.

I am getting ready to fire up UT3 (again) to check out this cool thing. In the meantime, it's also been added to Mapraider's three mirrors:

    http://www.mapraider.com/maps/?fileid=5540

By the way coreper, those 100mb.com mirrors you listed kept crapping out on me after 2-4MB of download and wasn't ever able to get a full ZIP for either link. The MediaFire ones worked okay though.

    I hope you like it

@FreakinMeany: Yeah, I dont know whats wrong with the 110MB servers now, but they're acting weird... So I replaced the links with the ones from Mapraider's Filefront.

    That's cool. Glad to help.

Just FYI though -- Mapraider has a basic "version control" system. Links to old versions on the site automatically redirect you to the newest version.

So if you release any updates to this map in the future, those direct links to FF will still work, but they won't automatically redirect people to the latest version like if you linked to the Mapraider page

Well, tbh I had my share of updates on this map, so I'm not planning on changing anything now :P
    4 BETA's seem enough to me :P

Yeah, it looks pretty solid. Played it for a while and didn't notice anything that jumped out at me.

But if only I had a nickel for every time an author said "Final Version" followed by "Final Revision 1" ...

Great to see you made a final now.
I played this map since the first beta and enjoyed it quite a lot
A huge fan of the entire Unreal franchise and Bulletstorm.

Really not into Face maps, but I might just have to DL this one to have it for UT3.

    Thumbs up Superb!

    Superb! map Coreper!

I was a little unsure about it after I tried one of the first betas, but the final version is an absolute must have for me. The atmosphere and attention to detail is top notch, and I haven't found any issues with the map yet. It's a keeper for me and I highly recommend it to others!

Because transferring all the materials and stuff to a new package gives to much trouble, I'll just give you guys the uncooked version of the map.

    It will be online soon.

You can make the conversion if you want, I won't be having the time to do so.
As long as you give me and HO08 credit for the original map ^^

Just create the folder cibastion. Right click, new folder, name it that, put the files in there.

Just make sure the folder is in the right place... the file path should be in the readme, and it looks like you're already in the right place and just don't see it. You can also download and install a community bonus pack, and it'll make the folder for you.

Part 1 and 2 appear to contain the same sized ".ut3" file.

How do i use this? do i need to merge the ".rar"files - and if so - how?

Surely it should have some packages in there? not just a config and 2 x .ut3 files
    wtf?

i know that as soon as i click on a static mesh and click duplicate it will search for a million references to files that do not exist

Part 1 and Part 2 can be merged by placing them in the same folder, and unpacking one of them, the other will automatically be unpacked aswell.

Also, I know it should have packages, but because i build the map with all the custom mateirals and meshes in the map itself, instead of an external package, all the data is in the UT3 file.
I dont have the time to repack everything in a seperate package.

The easiest to replicate all the materials would be to copy the nodes [exept for the texturesamples] and then add the texturesamples again linking to textures in your map. That is how i duplicated content from one version to another.

Thank you for your reply. [it does it by itself nice]
and thank you for the content.

    - if i can i will try to make some packages for people

Many Thanks - Really nice content

    Smile faithful remake!

Needs author(s) in preview shot........wait.....I just corrected that. Some cool music as expected and I liked the fog below and mist above with the planets and spinning flag colors in the pyramid, trees and the details inside the bases as well as the fire. This one looks faithful to the original UT2004 map in looks and gameplay. Dammit, I was telefragged by a bot and I just stood there and watched it happen........he paid for it though. I did notice my bots running with the flag in circles in front of the base a few times; I was constantly trying to keep the enemy off or him, but he didn't get the clue to get in our base and CTF already.

As for the bots running in circles, I never noticed that, which is weird.. I actually never saw them leave through the front of the base at all :P

    Big Grin

It's a large circle up the ramps and back down again (but right in front of the base basically and I'm not sure what difficulty I have them on maybe skilled or adept), but I'm like,"WTF are you doing dude, GTF in the base already, I'm sick of fragging these guys following you and I'm running out of freakin' health and armor!!!"
