Well thehut are telling me they only give it to people who pre-order that particular edition although they've never had it on their site (so how the hell does that work?). And the friend I mentioned in the above post actually ordered the standard from them and got the e-mail the next day confirming it would be the epic edition. It would be so much easier to ask them if they still had a phone number but they've replaced it a stupid e-mail system.

Thanks for trying to get this sorted for us Flak, really appreciate all the help. Most of the Customer Services teams for game retailers are useless. May i ask which retailer you have contacted about providing the Epic Edition?.

    Thanks in advance.

At the moment I'm just going to go with Game for it, I think my mum has £20 to spend at Game after getting X-mas pressies, I shall use that (Hehe), eager to find out where else it will be at though as it is more expensive at Game.

Hmm, and that's exactly what Game want you to do. Bloody joke how they can get away with charging 5 quid for something that should be a free pre-order bonus. Game can get away with it because they are essentially the only proper game store in existence in the UK so people have some sort of level of trust for them (Gamestation doesn't count as it's the same company)

This is their explanation for charging more.

    Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that GAME are offering both the normal and epic editions of this title. The price difference is due to the fact that the Epic edition contains extra material that the standard edtion does not come with.

Please keep checking our website, game.co.uk for updates on this.

If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us.

This is the poor excuse I received in an email after pointing GAME at this thread. After pointing out that both products are the same, and shouldn't be charged extra at the expense of the gamer. As already expressed here by Flak, everyone should get the 'free' upgrade regardless of where they pre-order.

It's a shame really, as much as I'm looking forward to this game, this messing around with GAME trying to charge more for what we should already be getting. Oh well not my loss, I've been buying from game in the past only because their reward system works out alright if you buy alot of games, but even Test Drive Unlimited 2 is listed at the full £50.

Soon as I have used up my £15 rewards points, that's it, play.com it is because they have exactly the same pre-order bonus' as GAME now anyway.

    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we have received no word from the publisher with regards to this offer, however this is always subject to change and any developments will of course be reflected on our website. If we do receive word regarding this then of course the pricing of this title can be looked into.

If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us.

    Regards,

Can we not request one of the Bulletstorm guys to have a word with GAME? I mean if they do practically have the monopoly on it at the moment then it's annoying they're charging more.

£39.99 from Smyths toy store. Never ordered anything from their site though, only bought instore. edit: actually don't think you can pre order from this site.

But atleast we know its not exclusive to GAME now.

Will be cancelling my pre-order from Amazon and renting if it drags out much longer. The situation is ridiculous, I dont understand why its so difficult to get a definitive answer - no retailers other than GAME know anything about this and im not paying them an extra £5 out of principle - they are taking the piss.

Q: My retailer doesn't have an "Epic Edition" only the Standard Edition.*
A: You'll automatically get the "Epic Edition" or "Limited Edition" when you pre-order the Standard Edition. Again, this is while supplies last. All pre-orders will get the free upgrade.

Right please can we have an update on this? The ONLY reason i ordered was for the limited edition stuff, otherwise i will wait and pick up when cheap (if i bother at all, buying a game on faith before any reviews etc is always somewhat of a gamble)

Also it it not worth the price (to me) that game are charging for the limited version as its not like i do not have other games to get on with.

After the black and white info given that ALL pre-orders will be epic (that is meant to be the only one shipping) if i did not get it I would feel ripped off.

I need an answer to this 1 way or the other, as if not i will be cancelling my order, and i suspect i will not be the only one.

Also, given that it now seems to be unknown as to who is getting what, i think it is very poor form that the OP as a respected forum member and Community Co-ordinator for Epic has not changed this very misleading 1st post in the thread, if it is true that he is now uncertain, then it makes his post tantamount to telling fibs

Just found this on the amazon discussion from an employee

"As far as i am aware the Epic Edition is only available via the Game Group (Game/GameStation/GamePlay) in the UK.Thats what we have been told by our head office anyway"

Goodbye pre-order. GAME etc can F**K OFF for £45.

I don't mean to jump on the band wagon but this is getting stupid now. Every company I've contacted now either knows nothing about it or is trying to charge extra for it.

I pre-ordered from Amazon the day after it was announced yet they insist they aren't doing it.

Thehut won't tell me if they will upgrade me or not even though they have already upgraded my friend.

Gameplay know about it but haven't been given any more information than we have so at the moment they can only offer the standard edition.

Gamestation know of it but apparently customers to have buy the Epic Edition from them, but then contact Epic to get the codes for the extra content and Gears 3 beta which beats the point of buying the Epic Edition from them in the first place.

All other places I can think of have already been mentioned in this thread.

It's a shame really, depending on how the demo plays, will probably only be a rental job, I'm not paying extra for what should be included anyway, not my loss I'm not that desperate to play the GoW3 beta.

yeah, probably because they've been dealing with the guys who really have no knowledge of it.

I hate when I get those responses from "management" the xbox tech support team is the worst I've dealt with (Couldn't even tell me what the specs were for the 360 slim)

for all we know, they put the new guys on e-mail responses.

Its quite sad, game are selling the limited edition (PS3) for £40 http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PlayStat...z13fvfZ1z13f85

So it looks like GAME are charging £5 for early access

Thing is its not an extra fiver - most online retailers are selling the SE for £37 so its an extra £8 for something that is meant to be included as a pre-order bonus, i.e rewarding people who pre-order the game, not as a separate, more expensive edition.

The money isn't the issue for me anyway, its the principle that GAME are charging extra for something that the publisher are saying should be included as a standard extra at no extra cost. They are taking the piss imo.

So the latest from GAME is that it is EA's fault for the price hike.

"Unfortunately, the discrepancy in the prices between the limited edition Playstation 3 edition of the game and that of the Epic Edition for the Xbox 360 is that the Playstation 3 edition although it comes with extra material it still does not contain the early access to the Gear of War 3 Beta as this game has not been released on that console. Therefore, due to this additional material the publisher have valued the Epic Edition to be of a higher price."

Hope this gets sorted out, I've emailed Zavvi who I placed my order with to see if they know anything though it seems unlikely. I will cancel my order and not bother buying the game on release if the only way to access Gears 3 beta is by paying a premium to take part in a beta.

Well the demo has proven itself to be a rental, as fun as it is for being a different style of game, the repetitive replay value only goes so far, and I'm not buying into the whole beta thing.

Looks like Crysis 2 it is instead.

I hope we finally get some solid info on this deal in the UK and get to expose Game for being the swindling, rip-off bastards that we all know they are.

Cancelled my pre-order Its a shame but I thought the game looked ok after the demo but not day1 purchase stuff, which left the gears beta.

With no confirmation on that (and lets face it, its only a beta) i decided it was not worth it, and am NOT paying 8 quid extra which there is a good chance its money for nothing.

Poor organisation and mixed messages on this have cost at least 1 sale. I suspect there have been plenty more. I have had to contact my mate who also preordered after i showed him page 1 of this thread, he is also thinking of cancelling.

Finally got an e-mail back from thehut, although they have told my friend he's getting the free upgrade, this is what they've told me:

    Sent by: TheHut.com. 26 January 2011, 10:42

    Hi,

Apologies for the delay in response.

The Epic Edition is exclusive to another retailer unfortunately so we can not stock it.

    Apologies for this.

    Regards,

    Scott.
Just come off the phone to thehut and the guy on the phone was no help. He said something different to the e-mail saying at a guess thehut must have declined the free upgrades and only wanted to stock the standard version. If his guess turned out to be true, I can't understand that for the life of me as it was a free upgrade.

    Edit

I pointed them in the direction of this thread and got this response:
    Hi Christopher,

    Thanks for your email.

The forum thread is from the USA and is referring to USA retailers. In The UK, the Epic Edition of Bulletstorm is exclusive to 1 other Retailer.

    Apologies for this.

    Regards,

    Scott.
So thats both Amazon and thehut now saying its exclusive to another retailer.

Poor organisation and mixed messages on this have cost at least 1 sale. I suspect there have been plenty more. I have had to contact my mate who also preordered after i showed him page 1 of this thread, he is also thinking of cancelling.
Ive cancelled aswell - im sure Epic arent too bothered about a couple of moaners from the UK on their forum but this has been a complete mess and hopefully more are following suit. GAME are taking the piss with this and its unfortunate that Epic or EA won't shed any light on it - my understanding is that the price increase and GAME exclusivity for EE has been requested by EA .

I noticed the Crysis 2 beta came out yesterday. No hoops or loops to jump through, no pre order shenanigans in the UK. Surely a beta should be open to as many people as posible to test out the game mechanics and point out any obvious mistakes, glitches or anything that needs changing upon release. We dont want to have to have numerous title updates like Gears 2. It put people off playing the series.

I can pre order Bulletstorm for £32 from Zavvi but at the moment I'm not sure to be honest, with a Beta it seems fine to pay that but no way I'd pay an extra £13 for a BETA.
Wow those guys must really suck... or I'm a really good host!
