Default Unreal and Unreal Tournament Source

Has the Unreal or Unreal Tournament source been released to the public or do the games currently reside in the public domain? Are they available for download freely yet?

There were public headers AFAIK. However ownder of oldunreal.com bought and obtained rights and sources for Unreal and UT and made (with a team, although only he has the full source, plus UTPG guys have them too) a community patch, which I had also part of making although I had my own disputes against direction of the patch and found out some unsettling things about certain members which made me to leave the community after I was unfoundenly blamed for sending death threats, hacking and stuff like that (and was banned based on pre constructed material, which I can easily prove to be false and were proven as) to a certain admin/moderator, while I was only vocal against their censorship of people who spoke out against themselves and the dangerous hackers found in that community.

So yes I beleive if the source code was released, more teams could handle it better actually, without relying on oldunreal.com, as I do not wish to support them anymore. The patch is rather fine on itself, although it contains additional actors and stuff in main files which make it uncompatible with older versions when you make maps using those actors, which was my main objection, since it could have been left in the standalone package, but linked to the stock unreal actors, so it would be required.

my thoughts has always been if the 227 patch is successful we should all migrate to it. I would not be worried about running older versions of unreal because I would finally dump them all. If I had my real druthers I would want EPIC to make their current engine compatible the older versions so we would be all up to current U3 code...really...won't happen I guess tho.

I would not want the source code open publicly, then we get too many unreal versions..again. enuff!!! Its tricky enought voluntary folks like you an me get to work over the original source like the OldUnreal folks have. I am fine with the work done already tho I have not DLed any 227 beta versions yet, when I hear, near final or FINAL with maybe patches, I may go for it.

I will never dump older versions, I consider 227 as alternative.
