    Default A Bunch of Ways to Spice Up Jacinto: "Cool Place" in Gears 3

    So, my friend, Shipdawg51889 have been tossing ideas around on how to make Jacinto a bigger and hopefully better map. We think it's a really great map, but it could be improved in a couple of ways.

    Most Important Thing in This Thread

    The first couple ways are a combination of things. In spawn, there is a staircase that leads down to a tunnel that leads across to the other spawn. Well, if we could take out all that junk blocking those stairways, we could go into the tunnels.

    Just open that right up, and make ramps up to the mortar underpass, so that you could go from spawn to mortar with ease. It would make for an interesting scenario of rushing to the other spawn or going to spawn via those tunnels.
    Then, next to those stairs, there would be a "cool place" where you can shoot at mortar from afar. On both sides of the map, it's exactly symmetrical. From spawn, you have a ladder going up to this perch. And from the stairs leading down to mortar on each side, there are stairs to this perch as well.

    Another cool feature would to be to open up the spawn points a little. There is a gate leading to another area. So why not open it up?

    Then you could open up spawn a little more towards the back of the map here, with a ramp.

    Another cool spot would be to open up the back of the map near Boomshot and Hammer of Dawn. Open this door, and have a tunnel lead to this other door, than around to the other side of the map, symmetrically.

    The tunnels will also lead to sniper perches near the stairs on spawn, since spawn is so much bigger, it needs more sniping/boltoking positions.

    Another place in the middle of the map that can be opened up is an under water way that leads to the tunnels that we opened up going to mortar.

    These ideas were thought up by Shipdawg51889 and I, Comrade John. I'm sorry if you proposed an idea and it looks like I stole it. I don't recall ever looking at anything like this for Jacinto.

    done with a fine tooth comb! whether or not epic makes the changes, i like it. if they do bring back jacinto though, it should be tattered and torn. i mean the city did sink...

    If Jacinto returns, I'd like to see it in the middle of a sinkhole and flooded with water - similar to the water in the original Canals. That may ruin OP's plans, though. Make it dark with a few of those god beams Cliff seems to like so much.

    Yeah, make the map a bit different visually to acknowledge the events of Gears 2, maybe some darker weather (Jacinto was a good map but way too bright) and the helicopter could be wrecked also.

    Surprised you didn't suggest opening up the back of the grenade spawns. (making them 2way)

    If the player count increase happens those changes are feasible. The amount of people would have to be 7v7 or higher to support the increase in size of the map. Right now the map is fine with the current size and layout. If you close of areas as well opening up those areas will work better

    Maybe the helicopter could be teetering on the edge. Do battle down around that area and it'll eventually slide off, explode and cause the ground to rumble.

    This is cool, dude. I'd definiitely go for it. I think of all the maps, Jacinto is the one I'd like to return in Gears 3. Especially if it was at night time.

    Makes it feel a lot more realistic, although i remember adding an extra floor to Goldrush in the Gears 1 editor, was awesome! Had a lift and everything...

    Yeah, another good point. I actually didn't think about it being flooded and stuff when we did this. Maybe have water everywhere, new pieces of cover that are like broken buildings and stuff.

    You mean taking out the one way cover? Well, that area with the doors in the back connect in my view. So you'd be able to get from one grenade spawn to the other.

    Right. That's really the only thing I don't like about Jacinto as it is right now. In fact...I hate it, it's ridiculous, can't imagine why you can't mantle over the wall to get a back door into nades...

    As for your suggestions, I don't know if I like all of them because that would make the map feel too big, 2 V 1 situations where a guy is hiding would take forever. But I do like the idea of opening the door to the caged area between spawn and mortar.

    That one is the one that got this idea started. Then I was like, what other areas could I open up? *flies around with ghost cam taking nearly every single picture possible*

    With a bigger map, there would have to be more weapon swaps, I think. But if it was just the spawn to mortar opening, that'd be sweet.

    What do you mean done about the grenade area? I was just looking for new areas to go to, not really changing much of the original map, other than adding new places. :P

    Its a good idea and all, but I'd rather keep Jacinto as it is. It's one of the best maps in GoW2 imo. I'd like to play it in Gears 3 the same way.

    That'd be a good feature, the map could have a feel and look of danger and instability in general with the flooding that was mentioned, tremors, some fires, even bits of the scenery could look damaged or collapsed.

    The map doesn't have to be destroyed, or even at all Canon. But definite a broken down kind of look, with bricks taken out, puddles in some areas, knee deep water in other places, and what not.

    This so much. I had a dream where Jacinto had a hidden path way. From spawn, to the left/right of the stairs that lead to the grenade room were opened up and led to a hidden area.

    Hoffman is one of the best characters if you look past the games.

    I hope Epic look at the this and the feasibility of these proposed changes to the map to see if they will work well with Gears of War 3 because in Gears of War 2 I believe Jacinto has gotten a bit stale and repetitive now because of the grenade camping. I strongly agree with Profess about opening up the back of the grenade spawn if they're to stay there.

    A couple of these would lead to even more camping. Especially opening up that back gate at the spawn. There are some really good ones here though.
