people say it's dead, I say it is not. People are playing UT3 online. Aren't you? If not, then it's dead for you. I play it and I play against other UT3 players so it's not dead. I've made a list of the active servers I play on. And recently there has been quite a few new players in those servers,, mainly Beer Drinkers.. ask Taffy. currently there are 4 in Voids new server and it's 2am. Helping people find active servers helps build a community.

cQ Chicago and Pot Smoker's are shut down. (cQ West might go too.) The #UT3.NA guys are apparently getting new Chicago and Dallas servers.

It depends on what you mean when you say, "dead". To me "dead" is having fewer than 300 people online during North American prime time. Compare the current player counts to the player counts UT99 had 4.5 years after its release. In my view, UT3 is not merely dead, but it was a stillborn from the beginning.

I have never seen Beer Drinkers go off like it did Saturday. The player count was pegged for hours. It was a record day...no doubt.

I use this one a lot. I get good ping, players are skilled above me, so I always have something to shoot for, nice and short maps.
I doubt that there are any europeans here, but this is a perfect server for me and I'm even from Eastern Europe.

thank you Cake, fo rgiving me access to a good read, that said, i had a great time playing toninght with a few olde friends. played DM in helldrinkers and beerraisers, and did a hot second of war as well. this game ain't dead. and, apparently, the players are the only ones left at the moment who can kill it. seeing as it can be interpreted as being "on the shelf" indefinately. this is no differnet than some olde stupid religions, if you believe and spread the word, it can never die. except religions have olde a55 books and what not. and we have the hope that the Epic never unplugs our "life support" shouts out to Wikkid, and F1ak, for even hanging around this long, paid or not...i still love this game for the fact that unless yhou are in that top 4% tier of players, you always have room to learn and improve. no leveling up, no crazy procedural weapons, no tech/ability tree, just raw fragging.

No matchmaking. I think that was the reason UT3 died. All new games, like call of duty, league of legends, world of tanks... have automatic matchmaking, u dont need to find servers, u just pick what u want and press play. And the system gathers you with people of your skill! Thats the most important. New players just quitted game because UT is the most skilled based game online, and new players are noob, and get kicked ass like never.
Just wondered. How the hell could game like UT3 fail....
Fun, almost no luck factor, skill, teamplay...... It has everything the best, and no people play.... Think about it...

Well for some reason i cant find the bermuda team server on gametracker.it was there a few months ago,so i could check my rank.
now i have to wait till its active,but its every day so its not a problem.i would like to check the french server.but i have no idea what a sig is nor did i play 1vs1.
So to enter the french server do i have to have the original ut3 or is the jack sparrow version enough.

what did u miss in "1vs1"....when u re on the server with ut comp if u press "f5" u have access to "voting" (if the option is enabled by admins on the server of course)....u can pick the map, u can choose the gametype: deathmatch, team deathmatch, ctf, or 1v1(duel)....the server is 6 slots only ( 6 players maxi) so....warfare and vctf require more slots imo

It wasn't a matchmaking issue. UT99 didn't have matchmaking and was by far the most successful of the UT games and proved to be the greatest online multiplayer FPS of all time. UT3's problem was that it suffered from consolization with a horrific user interface and server browser and was released in a half-finished state. UT3 did not merely die; it was a stillborn right from the beginning.

This makes sense, it's just about finding people to play with, listing servers and asking for information. So please refuse to get into an argument of what was wrong with UT3 or what could have been made better. There are other threads to discuss this. Thank you.

Now, what I wanted to ask:
I wasn't online for quite a while now, is the The Last vCTF server still popular? I always liked that there were custom maps in the rotation, only one I don't like is Shoebox, that's just spam. Anarchy Halls is much more fun, fast paced and more CTF-like (I'd play regular CTF if I knew there were populated servers, but whenever I checked there was like 1 server with 2 players on it... just doesn't play off. Once in this year I was lucky and enjoyed a nice CTF match... but just once ). I'll hopefully get back to the carnage that is UT3 soon.

Those sites are not very reliable for finding locations of IP's, for instance, my IP tells me I am in a City over 300 miles from me but I am not.
