Default Bulletstorm PC Multiplayer: Servers and mod tools?

These features are still necessary when developing a PC game. People Can Fly and Epic, please keep these in mind when porting the game to the PC. NOBODY, and I mean absolutely NOBODY, wants to use GFWL or a p2p based matchmaking system. Please, please, please guys, let this use servers. Don't let us down.

I don't mind either of those things. Guess I must be nobody.

I wouldn't worry for mod support to be honest.

?? It's not a port. All the versions of the game are developed simultaneously and optimized for each platform

Considering the release date, there's a serious lack of info on the PC version. DX11(which features -compute shader support, tessellation?) 64bit OS support? This stuff does interest the more tech savvy PC gaming community forums.

All I've read with regards to Bulletstorm is Adrian Chmielarz quoted in CVG as saying, that the graphical look (tech) doesn't matter as much as a good gameplay experience. This is true to an extent, and no doubt Bulletstorm looks very good. But does this indicate that Bulletstorm is using, 8 years on, Painkiller era DX9 , 32bit only in 2011? If so, the latest Steam HW survey showing 32 bit XP users clearly now in a minority, should make for sobering reading. Anyone with a decent gaming PC these days is using a 64bit OS to get away from the memory limitations inherent to 32bit.

Basically, with their PC background I really hope PCF have been allowed to let rip for an amazing PC version. Considering consoles relatively weak HW, for all versions have exactly the same LOD , modern PC horsepower would have to be largely unused.

Its running Unreal Engine 3, which is only DX9 (with DX10 enhancements). It won't be DX11.

DX11 is a superset of DX10.1/10 , so it's not beyond the realm of possibility , especially if the developer PCF, has asked for certain features to be incorporated. Considering Bulletstorm's long draw distance, LOD and texture pop in could become vexing.

That are bad news for me, I had hopes for bulletstorm. But i also think it will be just fun game without much modding potential.

Serious mods in udk are serious, lots of work, so it goes slow. And i need my fix of game full of assets to play with and some reason to make maps when i get tired of more serious and tedious stuff in mod. Preferably on same version as newest udk build.

Yes, I agree. Listening to some concerns (especially assumptions) over the Internet is really bad news.

Look at trailer and gameplay videos, game looks great for singleplayer, but does not look much better than GOW1 for multiplayer. And healthy modding community requires multiplayer.

I would say trolling on internet is also bad news, but I am as guilty of it as you.

Well you said you were disappointed like someone saying "This game won't last long/OMG no DX11!!!" was a revelation of some sort to you, even though you were aware the game did not provide any sort of multiplayer aspects retail from the beginning.

With modding capabilities I can see this game do a long run. I would compare Bulletstorm to UT3 not to GoW. GoW is limited to level editing, some people pushed the boundaries however.

Most PC versions of multi platform games are released a few weeks after the console versions anyway these days, for obvious reasons. I don't really understand the studio need to release these multi platform game versions simultaneously if they look exactly the same on all platforms anyway. Considering the poor response this gets from PC gamers who feel let down tech wise by developers. Usually the reality goes something like this; if there is nothing to distinguish the PC version the term "console port" is bandied about(often wrongly) on forums and the PC version of a game flops. Then the studio says PC games aren't selling well.

I'd guess most PC gamers would be willing to wait a bit longer than a couple of weeks after the console versions have shipped to get a really well optimized , better looking, PC version. For those with the cards already, yes, supporting much of DX11's feature set (it really needs this and the majority have at least DX10 - Steam HW survey) In fact all the bells and whistles , yes to an editor too. This undoubtedly better version needn't hit sales of the console version if that's already shipped a month earlier.

This game is nice ,but it can't compete with UT 3 too, which is the king of FPS modding, it's focus on sp ,not mp with bots....
