Had to split up the post, but it's just to refer to what bit I'm replying to.

As for the Serapedes, go for it! Be creative in how you have them tamed. Also, I'm reminded:

    I called the "worm enemy".
    He's pretty beast isn't it?

I'm just wondering if only a certain breed of Kantus can don the armour, or can a regular Cleric be promoted to wear that armour?

The idea I had is that much later, Brother Markon gets into a fight with a deranged Myrrah loyalist who's stolen High Priest Setnar's "Knight Armour" Markon kills the theif and takes the armour to be cleansed. After it's clean, Markon decides to do his master proud and don the armour for himself.

It would be pretty funny to have "pet" Serapede's. I'm thinking maybe Nokada, who came from a summoner background, found a way to tame them with chants and calls. Kind of like how Galea taught Vel about Rockworm taming.

Last thing: in one of the Beast mode walk-through's, The Serapede is referred to as "She".

Slip of the tongue or are the actually female?

My idea for the armored Kantus was sort of like the Vindicare cult of assassins from Warhammer 40,000.

I still plan to implement them sometime after I finish with my FF.

It's a new creature that's been introduced. You can see it in some of the Beast Mode videos.

    Nokada's going to domesticate them.

Ah, that's it then. I haven't seen any Gears 3 videos yet, aside from the E3 one. Bandwitdh. =(

Beast mode is something I predicted, though, just not on these forums. And I never expecting they'd actually let us play as Grinders and Maulers and Berserkers. Or Tickers. ^_^

The Armored Kantus aren't exactly like the Vindicare... in that they're really nothing like them at all.

Armored Kantus are especially slow, nearly immune to bullets, use their soundwave attack as an actual ATTACK (EXPLODE YOU), they dual-wield boltoks (YES), and when they roll into you they mince you with their armor.

But a special sect of Armored Kantus? Oh man, you could totally go Vindicare on them gaiz.

    EDIT:

Jay, what video did they refer to the Serapede as a "she"?

I think it's called "Beast Mode Walkthrough with Chris" something, can't remember his name.

Lol, Nokada with a Serapede - a good one for the album.

Wait a second, are amored Kantus in Beast mode as well? Because I was just talking about ficiton.

I admit the inspiration for the sect was from when I first read Jay's 'Revival'; It was way back, when I started Whiskey and Jay hadn't even finished that first story yet. I was thinking about the upcoming Gears 2, and wondering about the Kantus, and I pictured them as sort of independent assassins.

Each Kantus Lykonar, as I called them, was picked from the best among them and given years of special training. At the end of this rigorous lifestyle was a ritual in which the Lykonar's blood was taken and consumed by a council of his peers. In turn, he 'died' and became a ghost. These dead Kantus' would put their all into their missions, and most of them died in doing so. Since they were already considered dead, the loss wasn't mourned, but instead celebrated each time a new Lykonar was chosen.

I had a whole slew of awesome weapons for them, and stuff, I just never finished Whiskey; They were going to be in my follow-up story.

    Well hell yeah, that's awesome!

Kantus Priests are what we've seen in the game's so far. Plus Skorge (I like to call him the High Vicar). Then there's the Armored Kantus. And my Kantus Zealots, plus there'll doubtlessly be Savage Kantus. With your Lykonar Kantus, well... AWESOME.

Can he channel his voice-ability into a ranged offensive attack rather than just an annoying last-ditch defensive measure? Because if he can, and he's strong enough to support the armor, he'll be one hell of a Knight.

He doesn't even have to dual-wield Boltoks. HE CAN DUAL-WIELD LANCERS.

Just like all good games, this one will end and it'll be replaced with some other third person shooter that exceeds on the next gen console. But, this will live on sort of like how the Unreal series does... mildly, though.

Personally, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Halo, I like the idea of Reach and enjoyed ODST pretty well. I could see more in that series myself.

Gears is ripe for picking; There's dozens of plotlines and historical events just ready to be exploited. The only thing Epic needs to do to keep it alive is to keep introducing new game modes, gameplay enhancements, weapons, stuff like that.

Personally, I've always wanted a Gears of war RTS, and I stand by my claim that it would be epic. Excuse the pun.

^And I've always been there, with you on that claim. I remember the thread you had as well. Gears can go far beyond the whole 'Marcus and Delta' only. But, again, I had three different people telling me how it would stray away from what Gears is, and the Emergence Day/Locust angle.

Some people were for doing a Pendulum Wars RTS, but I have yet to see much from that time; At least, not enough for me to think the two or three factions would be different enough. As is, I'm waiting for Gears 3 to see what changes they've made to the Lambent, to see if they would make a viable third race for an RTS.

I'm also wondering if you can play Lambent creatures in Beast mode.

Kantus Monks, Kantus Priests, Armored Kantus, Kantus Zealot, Kantus Lykonar.

Too many Kantus classes XD. It also reminds me of the sect that me and Jay touched on: The Inquisitors.

Inquisitors are exactly what they sound like. They are the Peace Keepers and Enforcers of the Horde. These ranks would be bestowed upon an experienced Kantus Priest loyal to none other then the Queen, and would would be given a set of jet-black armor followed by a symbolized helmet that holds their ranking status. As Inquisitors rise through the ranks, they are given different helmets as tokens of their loyalty and are allowed to keep the old ones as trophies.

An Inquisitors job is quite... large for the lack of a better word. These Kantus can be seen as Field-Marshals or sometimes even a General's second-in-command, while others are appointed more internal tasks such as the management and efficiency of the Praetorian Guard (Theron Police). Their job is to essentially weed out corruption, crime and heresy in the Horde by any means necessary, even if killing is the only answer.

Their wouldn't be many of them, as this is rank is not bestowed frequently. It is an echelon given to the most smartest and deadly of Kantus Priests.

If anything, I would put the Armored Kantus and Inquisitors in the same class as technically they both have the same role and similar appearance.

Ugh, I need to get back to writing my FF. Damn my time constraints!

Ok, I'm almost done with the epliogue/part one. I may have five parts at the end, with the prologue and epilogue being shorter. Depends on how the words roll out.

    It could go longer.

EDIT: Also, cool idea Pandut. =) Goes along well with the Lykonar. For the record, though, they are no longer a specific branch of Kantus monks; The Lykonar are, for all intents and purposes, dead. They live in small clusters, called cells, and work for the queen until their body dies and returns to their souls in the afterlife.

Lykonar burials, the ceremonies where a Kantus becomes a ghost, are elaborate celebrations of the monk's life work, culminating in their final promotion.

I guess I would say that, in operation, they're like Spectres from Mass Effect. They tend not to be seen or heard, even by Locust, but when they are, people listen to them and are often in awe of their presence, as it is rare. They leave religion altogether and dedicate themselves to the physical. They are, of course, rumore to have mystical powers. These vary from Lykonar to Lykonar, but are usually exaggerated to strike fear and obedience into drones and such.

If powerful Inquisitors used bodyguards, they would likely use one Lykonar each. They are dedicated to their mission absolutely, and fear no death, since they have already met it.

Ah, so they essentially don't take responsibility for their actions; They are authorized to do whatever, however just as long as the objective is done? No jurisdiction? Man, they seem quite bad-ass to me .

They would probably make prime bodyguards for important figures like, high-ranking Inquisitors and Generals. In Kantus society, I see Lykonar's as a dark secret kept by the High Priests from everyone else, even their own kin.

Inquisitors, I see them operating in a chain of command. IE: There's lesser Inquisitors, those whom operate inside the Hallows as law enforcers and police commanders then the middle-ranked ones that act as military lieutenants and strategists and the high-ranked ones, Kantus that are chosen to serve as a Generals aide-de-camp and chief tactician in the army.

There are instances where these 'Prime' Inquisitors could essentially take command of said General's army if that individual was unable to lead, IE: if he died, was discharged, promoted/demoted, etc. Of course this would be temporarily until a new general would be chosen to lead, although there are few occasions where the Inquisitor can retain command permanently.

Lol, typing half-awake 5:30 in the morning isn't very easy XD.

EDIT: I'll try and get started on my colab this weekend.

This doesn't really compare to mallock's stuff but I did it anyway xD I went with something sentimental, awwbless. (sorry, my brain is riddled with painkillers at the moment, so I'm a bit...lala)

A youngish Krall teaching Myzfit how to read, seeing as the other Kantus won't have anything to do with him

I still can't get the mix of Theron/Kantus right in Krall, perhaps in another attempt.

That picture did put a smile on my face.

It's very nice! Do you mind if it goes in The Art Bar as well? There's something about the look in Krall's face which is quite amusing.

When it comes to The Soul Killers, I'd say Krall and Torgr are the hardest to draw. Krall because of his mixed breeding, and Torgr because... well, "Wimpy Locust" must be a bit hard to imagine.

For some reason, I can't see the last picture. Other than that, I liked 'em all. Sauvix is especially cool.
