Some were probably lost during storms, or clean ups. Or someone found it and never posted it on this site. Or someone found and threw it out, gave it to someone else. I guess I should enter my CSID.

MIA is used when the whereabouts of the service member is unknown.
AWOL is used when the member has not reported for duty, and has not had permission to leave.
So one can be MIA (Missing) for the week, but it turns out, they went AWOL (left) .....I LIKE CLIFFY B's TEETH!

MIA is also used as a term by people of everyday life, a quick way to simplify the fact that the person has not been seen or you do not know where he is. Originally Posted by Bairdismygod
