    MAP-DM DM : Under : Elevated : 1st&Only Release


    I introduce to you my remake of the popular Team Arena Master Map, Under.
    This, as you can see has a much more wild and lively game-play.
    The idea, as seen in the title i chose, is for the new, but strangely familiar layout of Under to be much more elevated, fair to both sides of player spawns, and to provoke this kind of game-play.
    It's appearance has had an overhaul as well, but staying true to the textures chosen by the original author and enjoyed by those who frag inside.

    Hmm, the layout of the map on the 7th screenshot reminds me of a map named Crypt_of_Fook. But looks good anyway.

    thanks guys!

    In the 7th screenshot, it is just opposite in that area of what the origional Under did. instead of two upramps that go to a leveled playing area.. they go down.
    good thing to do to mix things up with people that played the origional alot.

    That map is just a rename of DM-Under(sulfur). Crypt of Fook IS a Under Remake. There are about 90 versions of DM-Under on the internet, I'm suprised you have'nt seen it before. It's like Campgrounds....everyone and their dog does a remake of it. DM-Under(sulfur) is probably the best version overall. It also looks unique. The other versions look similar to the map submitted in this thread.

    Most of the TAM/Freon server run several version of this map. Just check those servers. MXC's (Maximum Carnage) server has about 4-5 versions on it for sure.

    Hm.. Looks nice. Reminds me of stock UT3 maps a bit (the style).
    A huge fan of the entire Unreal franchise and Bulletstorm.

    right. i do remember now that crypt of fook map.
    but the crypt of fook is nearly exactly how under is with the layout.
    i highly doubt there is a remake of under anything at all close to this.
    maybe whoever said that needs to actually play through the map in-game.
    the layout is so so very different.

    Question

    Hmm. I'm starting to think there would be better gameplay if the ramps went upwards to a leveled playing area (screenshot 7) and where it's level right now would be sent up by a jump pad with a cut into the wall just as i did near the statue in front of the light on the other end of the map. (screenshot 2)

    Anyone agree with this?

    That can be easily fixed. Such things happen when you use semi-solid brushes at some places (had this several times). Just convert them to static meshes, that should be the best solution.

    nah. thats cos the spaces in that area arent wide enough (90 unreal units) to fit a player through it. So they walk over it. But eh. I figure its always a high action area and ppl get ticked over the smallest things. such as if they were to fall through there when crossing it and end up killing themselves or something.
    TAM players are hard to please. lol.

    I'll have a night version up here soon in a seperate thread.

    I end up working on it more anyway. haha.
    the night version is the last though.
    it's done. just havent screenshotted it yet.

    Smile Nice map.

    Both this and night version looks nice and clean. Love the concrete textures and static meshes but still needs more connectivity. Nice atmosphere, the sounds are weaving electricity and some good effects like sparkles, smokes and jumppads (this doesn't seem right when the bots/players merely stuck). I think I've had some problems here in this map: One zone is repulsive, I don't know what exactly look like (it could be my laptop or something) and the sky doesn't shaped like crystal or something [the night version is fine and this one does not; and both of them needs the preview screen (fixed)].

    Smile good map!

    OK, I know I review at least two other versions of this but why not throw one more into the mix. This one has good lighting/shadows and I like the sprite lights ("firefly" effects in another review), vines, steam, broken/offset floor tiles, music choice, purple jumppads and busted wall. A moving skybox would have been better in all versions of this map. This one has the same great gameplay and the bots weren't too bad either.
