System Offline
This site is currently offline
My guess would be that they are just doing some kinda work on it and thats why it's down.
This is the new link... http://www.epicgames.com/
Bacon, it's what's for dinner!
It seems that the stylized Unreal logo from the Fan Site page is missing in the current implementation:

Displayed on:

Clean, (intuitive) interface, quick page load time, and not over-burdened with "features". i.e. spammed with advertisements.
Sorry Flak.. I can not find anything to fault with the new site.
Excellent work.

Add some layout guidance. When the page opens, you want a center piece that will forward the eyes of the viewers to your current hot topic. That way they don't immediately avert thier eyes to random areas of the screen seeking a path to thier topic.
Also, it may be a good idea to clean up alot of the empty space between the posts with something interesting or informative.
Avatars are always good for poster identification.
Button boundaries help in knowing what is just text and what can be clicked on.
Always try to guide the viewer's eyes to the topics or information you want read. Heavy and large text for important information is always a good communication practice.
Light Grey background with darker grey font is a combination that poses difficulty in reading text.
Try using a darker grey background and white or a very light font. It rests the eyes and still gives that darker look.
Here is one example. Look at how User CP, FAQ, Community, etc. stand out up top. Darkblue with white font is very good.
Also, buttons or links like those should be a much larger text and if possible a different font from all the other text on the page. Reduction of empty space keeps the eyes from getting lost in the information.
Here is an example of our homepage. Dark background, light font.
