I have been playing the Gears Franchise for years.
My team pretty much dominates matches online when we get a squad of 5.
I personally know that I am a solid 2.0 or something like that. Which means I know I am not unstoppable, however I put in work pretty consistently.
In Gears 1 we used to play Player Matches and fight each other a lot, which in turn made us all very very good. From point blank torques to two piece headshots with the sniper, we were pretty good.
Now since GOW2, all of my friends got hooked on playing Ranked... I consistently win 1st place on my team off host, by using brute force tactics with my shotgun. Literally I see them and I attack like a pitbull in heat.
We typically MOB or Gank teams now.... But something has happened since we've started playing with this brute force game style. We lost tactic...
Every now again we run up on team in which we cannot "GANK" and the complaints start on the airwaves.
My team has forgotten how to lose.
Yesterday was SOOOOOO Frustrating to me... I was hoping social had the play vs. your friends element so we could have some Great battles... People could remember how to lose, and start developing tactic again. We ended up joining a group of guys which had beat us before... FSU guys. Now host appeared to have a mod, but anyways, we still were getting beat. Went around 2 losses in a row.... and...
My team started quitting out... I thought to myself, this is exactly what the other teams do when we run the numbers on them. At one point I wanted to shout at my friends "SHUTUP- or QUIT" Got tired of hearing the OMG... he is host... OMG LAG. But I kept quiet just to keep the peace.
It just solidified that my team is officially no better than the other teams out there. They quit when things get rough. Can't take losing.
Now to end this story... I stayed in the social match for around 7-8 matches.
Got a random that was putting up kills too, and we ended up winning 1 match.
Host had alot to say after we won that last one... Me and the randoms... specifically to me... but eh.. he's just like the rest of them.
