    Default joe....anyone.. about horde social????

can you explain how this system works please.
myself. along with a few others & probably more
are confused at the concept of why some games we get different xp amounts. due to different difficulty levels.

some form of custom game type where anyone can join.?
so far ive joined 2 games. started from wave one. one was hardcore. another joined that same match and had just came from a insane match.

    how does it work

    thanks

Nope 4, then 1 player left and then a friend joined me through the what's up menu. Got to 50 and you have to manually leave the game once you've finished admiring the scenery

I've joined a hardcore one before but that was earlier this afternoon. I keep finding casual now, which I don't like.

I was thinking about how this may work and I'm wondering if it just takes the difficulty that the host has selected for private (now called custom, I guess) matches? It saves the last setting you've used for private horde so if you have it on hardcore, like me, then maybe if I get host it just uses the hardcore setting that mine is permanently on. If someone else gets host who has theirs normally on casual, then that's what the game will set it at. Just an idea.

true or not. i dont know. gametype choice fails already for me lol
would have been easier for this social thing with a choice in custom games to allow anyone to join instead of friend invite only. gears 1 lobby. list of games come up with spaces. you pick what game/difficulty you want to play.

social. dont know what your gonna get into

ive tried custom difficulty setting change thing. has no effect on games i get in on

Well it would only have an effect (if my theory is correct) on the games that you get on when you're host.

if by a storke of luck you get host in social. host does the host thing to the game. making it a custom game where anyone can join. both the exact same thing but in a different section making it more confusing..

we are on the same page i think....
social host horde. is i reallity... a custom game, open for anyone to join.

I don't see social horde being popular once the novelty wears off if it is casual. Casual offers no challenge. It doesn't even require you to use cover to stay alive nor do you need team-mates to play casual.
Considering all the posts i've seen in the past asking for the option to play hardcore or insane publically, it seems ridiculous to set it to casual. That on top of the fact Social MP get new leaderboards and Horde doesn't....it's almost like a smack in the face

As for social mm, this is definately the template i would want to see for public horde in gears3....just don't have such a watered down experience.....casual is just not horde.

I don't know how it's working, but last night I had social Horde matches which ranged in difficult from Normal, Hardcore, and Insane. So the difficulty setting is being adjusted somehow.

Also, has the ability for the host to pause a match been removed from social matches? Didn't see any pausing of social games last night.

I played a few games of Social Horde and one game was set to insane, but I quit because there was no teamwork, just random people joining and leaving once they died.

I play a couple of games on hardcore and it was fun.

I tried setting up a game of Horde on hardcore in Custom and started playing. I was alone, so I would play maybe 5 waves or so, waiting for others to maybe join or start joining, but no one ever did.

So, my question is, when you set up a custom game, are you thrown into the social game matches so people searching can find you? If so, do you have to play for awhile before peope start finding you online? because if so, I will definitely have to send a invite out, because Horde solo is boring as all $@*! to me. LOL

But yeah, it would be nice to find ot the details of this. Because, in theory, you could set up a match to whatever difficulty and on whatever map you wanted(or needed), start playing, and people could pop up and play, whenever, especially when all your friends are offline or doing toehr things.

I don't think so. I've tried that method and kept playing till 5th wave and nothing: no one joined.

Anyway, yesterday I hit social horde and couldn't find anyone so it threw me to a lobby room, I started playing and in the second wave a friend of mine joined me. In the 8th wave another friend of mine joined, and around the 15th wave a friend of this last friend of mine joined. With this tongue twister I mean that no stranger at all joined my session, even finishing the 50th horde. I can blame my connection, but ranked horde seems to work properly in this issue (at least works like before TU6).

i noticed when i logged in today. one of my friends had "join session in progress"
custom or social i dont know. but anyway. i had joined some random on goldrush last night.. few waves later. 2 friends on my list joined the game.
from 25 to 50. after that we went off or played on. got onto fuel station and one of them joined.. there has been more games where that friend has joined. and sometimes i have left a game. joined another for some of the players from the last game joining.
im from uk. n i dont think i had 1 non british player so far in whatever game. i think. as sead in another post. in a way. you dont choose host. host chooses you like what happened to you in your game

I am wondering if you start off hosting casual(which is what I have started at every time). Then if you complete all 50, and the host continues to the next map, it will increase to normal, then hc, than insane. Need to host a complete 50 to know for sure, but it makes sense to me.

I doubt it's that but you never know. That'd just take so long I doubt the host would stay for that amount of time just to get to hardcore or insane.

Q- "in the last game, how did you get host. trying to figure out how social host works"

A-"i just searched for a match n it created new map n then people joined"

I'm wondering why we have to try and come up with the answers. Right now, Horde players are confused, we need answers. If no answers or forthcoming then i can only assume it's an unexpected side effect of TU6.
The random selection of difficulty is not really that big a deal. We wanted random horde right ?
The biggest problem is the ammo box problem, especially on the harder difficulty. Having no power weapon ammo makes the game much less fun and you spend more time looking for ammo than shooting locust. I like horde for headshots and explosions, not looking at the scenery while my team mates are trying to find weapons to get us through the next wave.

Pausing hasn't been removed from custom Horde games however.

But I would concur with the decision to remove pausing from social Horde (pausing never should have been added to public Horde in the first place). Not sure if removing it from ranked Horde is good or not (still haven't played any ranked Horde since TU6 came out).

I must concur with my fellow Horder above.

I'm not one to complain, I pretty much let Epic do their thing and roll with whatever comes out. But what's happening to Horde right now is really bothering me. It's my preferred game mode (indeed, it's virtually the only form of Gears online I play), so seeing it getting beaten about by this update and not getting any info feels, frankly, like a slap in the face and rather insulting to this long-time and very loyal Horde player. (I'm currently at 85 experience, and all but perhaps 5 or 6 of that came from playing Horde.)

TU6 has cut ammo box pickup amounts for no discernable reason, and it's introduced the bizarre problem where on some hosts the ammo boxes provide radically reduced ammo amounts and will not provide any torque bow or boomshot ammo and will not provide any frags.
