Exclamation Importing materials to UDK from 3DS

I've downloaded a few .3ds and .max models, exported them as .ASE and imported them into UDK. The models loads up, but the textures don't. What am I doing wrong? how do I get the textures to show up on my model in UDK as they do in 3DS Max?

When I try and import a model I get this message: ASE Importer Error: Did you forget to include geometry AND materials in the export?

I had the boxes for geometry and materials checked though.

Currently, this is by biggest obstacle and any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

You must make you own materials within udk. Just import texture and make material from it.

How do I extract the textures from a model in 3DS Max and save them separately?

Also, what would you do with those materials such as chrome? For example, a sink in 3DS Max has a chrome material applied to the taps and other metal parts. How would I then get that data across to UDK?... So I have the chrome effect on my taps as well...

In the example picture below you can see a chrome material (Arch+design mental ray) applied to the object. How do I get this into UDK?

    Thank you.

Mental ray materials are unlikely going to work in UDK because it uses a scanline renderer. They are totally different things. And it won't look like that anyway, they work completely differently. All it really is is a gray color with a high reflection.

But I think if you went to Render to Texture you should be able to get it out that way, I can't remember all of the options since I never do it like that.
