    Default Character with emissive/glow

    Hey everyone, first time posting.

I'm a character artist working on a group game in which the main character is a shadowy sort of person. Long story short, our gameplay revolves around avoiding light and staying in the shadows, so the character's color scheme is appropriate to that.

However we realize it can be kind of hard to even see yourself in the game, so I'd like to add some sort of dark blue emissive or particle effect to highlight the mesh. I want it to be a pretty subdued effect though; everything I've tried in the material editor has just made him look way too blue, and added no glow or bloom.

What do you guys think the best solution for doing this to a skeletal mesh would be? FYI, I have no experience making a custom particle effect so if I have to go down that route, I'll have to do some learning. Thanks!

Have you tested him out in a level yet? Try Sandstorm. You'd be surprised how your model ends up looking in-game as opposed to in the editor.
