So I'm currently creating my first set of LOD meshes for my character in Max and I was wondering how other people go about this process, mainly due to the skinning problems I have occasionally when I'm making them.
What I do is take my base LOD skinned mesh, whack an edit poly on top of it and start pruning. Now most of the time this is okay and all I get is a nice results, though sometimes it has a complete hissy fit and screws up all the bits I've removed and it becomes unusable. Which really means I'll have to reskin some parts again. Seems slightly awkward, but quicker when it works I think.
Does anyone else have any interesting ways of doing it? Plan for a reskin of each LOD mesh maybe?
