    Default Camera Import from 3dsmax

I'm trying to import camera animation from 3dsmax into matinee using the collada file format but I can't get it to work.

Firstly the axis seem to be wrong and the camera is sideways. I believe exporting a cam from UDK to max and using that will fix this.

However the main issue I have is that it does not import any animation at all. The camera appears but the animation track in matinee reduces to 1 frame. I've tried exporting the camera using max default dae exported and the openCollada dae export plugin but neither work.

I REALLY need to get this to work as my projects pre-viz is all done in max.

    Many thanks

    Dann

I've only used the 30 day trial of max, but I have a couple of suggestions. Collada may not export targeted cameras properly. If you're using a targeted camera try using a free camera. Also be sure the export is set for Z up, most likely it is and you may want to bake the camera motion. Also don't choose the Single Matrix option. Some programs don't read the matrix tag from collada files.

I'm next to nothing with cameras and animations when it comes to 3Ds max, so I'm not sure if this is the answer but.... Quoting a couple of lines from Hourence's tutorials:

    About Unreal:
    Can't do:

Does not support importing Cameras, Lights, Materials, Splines, Nurbs meshes and similar.
You can't export pivot points. It always uses worldspace 0, 0, 0 as its pivot point.
Does not like strange characters in file names, or spaces.
Here's the link to that page: http://www.hourences.com/book/tutorialsue3modeling1.htm
