we are not sure, hopefully they make some crazy sounds, im not sure what language they speak, but we will find out later

Well, if they scream in english, that wont be cool.
Sure, they probably evolved below the earth's surface, listening to everything the humans were doing, but if they spoke perfect english, it would kind of ruin the mood of how brutal and different from humanity they are.

In the E3 demo, near the end. An locust tries to melee attack Marcus and makes a growl/grunt sound. Maybe it will be somehthing like that.

I cant believe no one has quoted this yet:

"Cliff: The difference is primarily cosmetic; we simply wanted to leverage the war in the Versus realm. I prefer to play as the Locust because whenever you pull off a successful Active Reload you get to hear your character make a sinister chortle"

Yeah, I was about to quote CliffyB, but Zoso beat me to it. Should have figured though

I hope the locusts don't speak english. I loved in Halo whent he Covenant spoke extreamly minimal english, and it was still hard to understand. In Halo 2 they speek clearly due to MC's translator in his Mark VI. I think it's fun to hear aliens speak their own language.

It all makes sense in the Halo series because they have high-tech translators from the year 25**. Gears is only set about half way between now and 2500. The aliens should grunt, chortle, and go crazy in some crazy alien language. I would record some foreign language like german and play it backwards for some brutal and alien effect.

Is Sera just some fancy GoW way of saying "Terra" which translates into "Earth". I keep thinking that because I don't get why Earth dosen't help out. That's probably a story for GoW 2 to explain.

Theory #1: A long time ago mankind had to evacuate Earth due to global warming.
Theory #2: The same thing except we sped up the process through massive nuclear warfare.
Theory #3: Sera was settled by Earthling seperatists looking for a better life on a whole new planet.
Theory #4 (my favorite): Their just being lazy bastards.
